Default How I brought my Fikse FM5s back to life(PICS!)

Warning, this thread will contain many pics! I literally just used Mothers aluminum polish wherever there is no clear coat. For the clear coated centers, I used a small amount of Meguiar's m205 by hand. For the back side of the wheels, started first with some aggressive dish washing pads that I bought specifically for it lmao. Worked way better than I expected. Then, I polished it by hand using a countless amount of microfiber towels and Mother's aluminum polish.

I am going to put Ruby Red center caps on them, which is my rears still don't have center caps. Going to get them powder coated. Anyone know where can I get the silver outlined logos? Hell even decent sticker logos would be OK. And, you guys know I had to post of them on the car

Pics the seller sent me. This is how they looked. I didn't care, always wanted these wheels.

Seller pic

Showing how the dirty the inner barrels are.

Started cleaning the inner barrels.

Finished product of the rear 17x11

I thought I was gonna have to buy new center caps.

All done! At the time, I planned to use them. But I really miss having ruby red caps. And yes, these are the 1st gen caps. My rears are from 1995! For an aftermarket wheel to still look good after all these years, is amazing.

The wheels must have been sitting forever, considering they still had those Goodyears!

Some polishing done. You can see it if you look to the right of the wheel lip.

I only needed one wheel to complete my set, but ended buying 2 that came off a 4th Gen SS. But I ran the serial numbers through fikse before buying. Fikse told me they were originally made a for a C5. 17X9 with a 56mm offset. Perfect! Anyways, began removing the spacers.

Cleaned/polished one of the 17x9s! Even the part you don't see looks good.

Finished result of the 1st three wheels I bought.

Thanks everyone! I have the rear caps. But the fronts are blank caps, and the rears are caps as shown in the above pics. Not putting them on because they don't match, and I'm gonna get 2 more blank caps, powder cost them ruby red and then put them on the car.

Glad you guys enjoyed the pics It was a lot of fun making them nicer than when I got them. They aren't perfect, but I am on a budget and very happy with how they came out

Your clean up job looks beautiful.... but how will you fix the big gash in the one wheel?

That is one of the spare wheels I have. It's not on my car

Those tires look original. They looked like P275 40 ZR 17s. Do you know what year car they were from? Since you have new Nitto 555s on, are you keeping the old ones?
Thanks,
Mark
