Update to ZR1 or C6?

I'd go C6. Less chances of hearing "No Longer Available" or "Obsolete" at the parts counter and there is more PCM support if you tune. I still have to put up with the occasional ABS on even though there is no situation because I don't want to pull the ABS sensor and risk a wreckage and not have the part available. Went to all the parts houses. I could order a condenser for a 94-96. Murray or Spectra or 4 seasons, etc. Not sure when they will be made and no stock so if I had to, I might have to buy some used stuff and pray it isn't bad but the fins would probably be mashed and I'd prefer new.

the LS3 Z51 6 spd are nice
tons of low mi ones out there of each to choose from.

The C6 car (the chassis) is way better, but the LT5 has more rev and is easier to modulate the torque and doesn't need absolutely perfect tires on the rear to be safe.

I want a C6 Z06 as a stable mate for my ZR-1. But, I wouldn't trade the ZR-1 to have one!.
The ZR-1 is iconic, and the LT5 torque delivery has to be experienced to appreciate. And, the LS7 may be the last N/A 427 in a Corvette for some time, if ever!

Nope, only driven a C5 auto and my existing LT1 auto.
Figure the ZR1 is more for the wenches while I'm more of a waxer. Thinking more along the lines of a low mileage C6 for under $20k in two years time. Then again, the C4 is a lot of fun. The LT1 with the performance axle scoots pretty good, like the interior of the C4 (C5's seem cheap) and that Bose sounds like heaven. I don't know, wait and see, maybe join a club so I get some experience with other Vettes?
Edit: I'm thinking no C5's.

Even though I think the C6 is the lamest looking Corvette of all, get the C6. It will be a better car, parts are easily found, and the aftermarket still carries a lot of products.

C5's are garbage...we've had this conversation before.
why update? C4's are FUN cars and they aren't as unreliable as people think if they take care of them.
i may also get a C6 someday...key word someday, when they are $5k

I'm really happy with my LT1 and see zero reason why I would want a C5.

if you just want a cruiser try a base C6 avoid the 4l60e they are getting cheap fast!!
Sad to see the C5s aging.. Electronic issues many are having scare me off, sure is tempting though. They are going the way of the Iroc or 5.0 biggest challenge is finding one that hasnt been screwed over 5 ways from sunday

I was looking for another C6 GS, or C6 Z06, 94-95 ZR-1.....
(I've had a 95 coupe m6, 03 coupe a4, 02 Z06 m6, 08 coupe a6, 10 GS a6, 13 GS m6, 11 CTSV coup a6)
Ended up with a low mile 94 Z because I always wanted one. I just love to looks of the late C4 and LT5 motor!

The only C6 I would even consider is a C6Z or ZR1. A base to me just seems like they are missing something. I test drove a base C6 with a 6 speed and wasn't impressed and the base appeared plain to me.

Back in 04, I bought a used 99 W210 and it has way more electronic stuff. I heard old timers tell me what you just said. They pointed out a bunch of people who have bad experience with the electrical stuff. In the 480000 miles I have driven, other than worn out parts and AC, I have few issues with the electronic stuff that puzzled my mechanic who was a master guild technician. He was good at diagnostic stuff. When he was not available, I used other people who weren't as good and they fumbled it so I had to wait for him. My thoughts are that the electronic problems are exacerbated by a lousy parts replacer throwing parts at a problem
