I have Sport Seats and I hate them because I am Fat
So the problem is i'm a large framed guy and I'm heavy set too. I'm 6 foot 1 and weighing in at yea nvm u dont need to know. YES I do fit in the car very well as far the steering wheel doesn't rub on me anywhere and I do feel comfortable other than because I'm wide framed the side bolsters are right in the outer edges of my thighs and backside. Trying to find a solution here. I have what I believe to be a few options here. 1. I could buy a single base seat and just replace the sportseat on the drivers side like on my 84. and leave the passenger side alone or I could replace both for uniformity and to satisfy my OCD. OR I could take the little controls out on the drivers side and remove copious amounts of stuffing in the bolsters to flatten them down and kind of custom tailor it to me since I am the new and hopefully final owner. Any suggestions, opinions and idea's please respond.

I "feel your pain"! (Or, I used to!)
The cure was to jettison those 'sport seats' and install a pair from a 95 base car. Problem solved, and I never looked back (and it's been almost 10 years now since I changed the sport seats out).
Also, the offending seat bolsters in the latter C4 years were reduced in height considerably, until by 95 to 96 they were as comforable as the base seats, IMO.
Also, my wife being 6'2", and proportioned accordingly (read: ladies naturally have hips), had the same issues with my 90 sport seats. The switch to the 95 base seats was the cure! Now it's only bladder or food or gas stops when we cross-country in the Vette: never a peep about comfort.

i tend to find base seats more comfortable than sport seats. i have both varieties of sport/base seats for late model C4's as my 92 has a different style all together than my 95.
I think the base seats offer more padding support, at least it feels that way for me. My 95 base seats are more comfortable than the 96 Sport seats i had and the base seats in the early 90's is more comfortable than my sport seats in my 92. i'm not happy at all with my 92 sport seats in fact...i'm seriously considering swapping them out (but i do like the side bolster...this is a tough call for me)

Looks like the base seat is the answer. As an added incentive, if you lose a hundred pounds, your car will be a tenth quicker in the quarter.

Made the same switch
Big difference. I like the look of them too.

Melting Slicks
Another option would be upgrading to C5 seats.

Do they even fit the rail or do you have to drill holes and put plates to make it work?

the sill design as well. sure the C4's are a pain to get in-out of as you get older...its once you're in the seat, then everything in the world is suddenly ok again!

I installed 94 Sport seats in my 90 and 96 Sport seats in my 91. Problem solved. Don't forget the ergonomic set point in the late 70's in the design phases of the first C4 were based on the Normal sized male being 5' 10" as the set point for the interior. Add a 6' 2" inch Male and there is bound to be a fitment issue. GC

I installed 94 base seats mostly because my stock seats were falling apart. The 94-96 seats are designed for larger drivers. I got a little more headroom. She got more hip room. They should bolt to existing seat tracks.
