vinyl covering targe top

i did the inside of mine to block to sun - would like to do the top in white but can't get a color match - if you go with black or carbon fiber get the "wrap vinyl" material - much easier to work with.

I am thinking of doing mine with chrome silver, just so it can reflect more radiant heat away from my head. This is done a lot these days on sports car race cars (IMSA, WEC, etc...especially on the prototype cars). I'm wondering if anyone has any pictures of that on a C4 (or even C5/6/7)? It's a Torch Red 96, and I like the look with the stock tinted glass roof. I'm not sure if it will look good with chrome.

Dad always said if you can't make it match make it contrast.

I guess I just don't get carbon fiber wraps, to each their own. I remember when I had my '89 in the early 2,000s and people were talking about carbon fiber wrap stuff and some one said "I wonder if int eh future we will look back and see it like we see plaid now"
Maybe try plasti dip?

I wrapped a cracked clear top. It didn't turn out perfect. A few mistakes I made....
The surface has to be perfectly smooth. No chips, no cracks, nothing. Any imperfections will show through.
You need to either go around and over the edge guards, or pull them off and go around the lips. YOU MUST HAVE EXTRA MATERIAL. I dodmt, and mine shrunk some in the front corners.
Have a friend to help. It's big and bulky, and an extra set of hands helps immensely to get it laid down right.
In the end it looks pretty good, but it takes some time. Good luck.

Had the halo and top done by a guy near San Antonio, everyone that see's the car likes the look. Louver is gone. Car looks much better with out it. My best advice is do what you want and do not worry about what anyone thinks, after all it is yours.

Okay, I am now looking at "black chrome" wrap for my targa top. I want to keep the black look of the top but reflect as much radiant energy as possible. There are several brands of vinyl out there. Can anybody suggest a product to use?

I was wondering the same thing on the costs. My top is 9/10 condition, but it does get a bit warm. And down the road if I don't like the carbon fiber wrap it can "easily" be removed. Since my car is midnight blue I was thinking black/blue weave carbon fiber wrap (if is exists).
Seems like more people are doing wraps instead of paint. My 94 Ford Lightning is in need of paint -- I've considered having it wrapped instead of paint, whichever is the most cost effective.
A bit off topic -- has anyone tried the peel coat on the acrylic top? I may try this on the underside of the top since my top is in good condition. Hmmmm..........

I "tried" covering some clearcoat coming off the roof of my Jaguar. After spending several hours getting it looking perfect. It looked great till I hit the interstate at around 70MPH I heard an odd noise then saw my vinyl flying through the air in my rear view mirror.
One good thing that came out of it was it took almost all the clearcoat with it.
I had some clear sitting at the house so I sprayed it over the paint and it looked fair. Much better than it did when it started to peel. I hated that car so I was not going to fool with getting it repainted.
If you do it be sure to make sure wind can not get under it, had I removed the molding before putting on the vinyl it would have been fine.
