1984 Crossfire Injection to 4-Barrel Carburetor Conversion
I was wondering if it is possible to convert a Crossfire Injected 350 on a 1984 Corvette to a 4-Barrel Intake Manifold and Carburetor. Would the conversion work like any other TBI engine or is the Crossfire different? Oh yeah, and how much CFM would I need?

Yes, you can convert but it will be a PITA as the XFire is very different than a TBI.
What are you trying to achieve or what is not happening?

There's a number of people here who do quite well with the crossfire. I'd think hard before trashing it. Try the search feature, or google search for examples.

To convert, you'll need:
Intake manifold
Carburetor
Fuel pump or some way to regulate pressure, then a relay/wiring to run e-pump
Mechanical advance distributor/ICM
Air filter solution
TV cable solution for auto trans/OD
I think that's most of it, so you're looking at ~$1000.00 retail to convert if you do the work yourself.
You could port your stock intake, optimize fuel pressure and end up at the same point, power wise.

Not to mention a custom hood because all of that stuff wont fit under a stock hood.

PS: I wouldn't ever dump EFI for a carb, but if you just have to get rid of the crossfire? This is an interesting thread.

The crossfire performs more like a mini-ram i.e., higher rpm & flatter torque curve, compared to the Bosch TPI (which was initially designed to give the 305 ci IROC at least some performance).
Dominic Sorresso (aka XFIREZ51) ported the Xfire plenum and runners - cleaning it up a good bit (he says), changed to a variable fuel pressure regulator, changes the injectors, and other mods. He claims the Vette ran in the mid 13s. There's a lot of unrealized potential in the L83, if one is willing to do some effort.
I'd look into DIY modding of the existing FI system before ever screwing around with carbs again. There's a lot of untapped potential in those L83s

Go to the C3 forum and hit up BUCCANEER and DUB. They are genius with the L83 and can steer you the right way.
AFTER you get it running right, get yourself a Renegede intake and work on the exhaust. You do those two and you will have a L83 that smoke off the tires.

Years ago I carbed my 84. Then went back to fuel injection (miniram).

I took advise from Tom and other forum members and I am completely satisfied with the results. I re-bushed the throttle bodies as well as porting the stock intake.
The fuel pressure optimization is also a important item that you should do as stated above.
Good luck with your 1984.
