thanks!
i used Sherman williams primer and the Harbor frieght purple spray gun. I burned through about 4 of them though... they shoot primer really well but don't last more than 2 or 3 uses... (may have been my fault for poor cleaning) but they're cheap just make sure you use a pressure regulator!

- I know more than one person thats done pretty nice paint work with the "famous" HF purple gun. the key to getting a decent finish with this one is to disassemble the gun, clean all the individual pieces/parts and gun body, and re-assembly with Teflon plumbers tape. I have one, but have yet to use it. I also have several top shelf guns - binks, sata, iwata, and devillbus, and honestly, some of the HF finishes I've seen rival the top end stuff. the fluid tip set on my HF gun is 1.4, and those parts look pretty good for a $10 hvlp. what makes these guns really cheap is not a lot of workmanship goes into the final assembly. the chinese slapped them together without much in labor costs - thus the cheapness. you're right, when finished, in the trash - probably not worth the solvent to clean them - . HF also has a "professional" () gun for less than $50 (with 20% coupon) - day and night difference in quality, and believe it or not, getting some good on-line reviews.
