Default Knocking in left rear.

1988 C4. At slow speed turn to the right and on backing turns to the left I hear a knocking coming from the left rear. I don't hear anything on strait acceleration nor when driving over bumps. Only on slow speed turns. Is it a hub bearing or axle or???

My guess would be hub bearing have jacked it up and tried wiggling the wheel back and forth?

Could also be a u-joint. Less likely is the parking brake.

You have some things to start looking at, have fun.

That sounds like the infamous teflon-coated washer problem. Some cars were assembled without them and had problems:

Sounds like the differential oil/grease friction modifier is warn out. This is a special limited-slip friction modifier available at most auto parts houses for about 12 bucks per pint.

A corrupt bearing, making a grinding or thumping sound, would make that sound going straight or turning and would also be audible at all speeds.
