Default New Project

My Uncle Bought a blue 1992 6-speed coupe when he retired.
He drove it for a few yrs, garage kept....no winters...
One spring back in the late 90s the battery was dead and it hasn't moved since ! He thinks about 20-22k on it
I have been helping him update Grams condo for the last 6 weeks.
He offered me some $$ the 2nd week, and I told him don't worry about it that's what family is for...And joked that he could leave me his Vette in his Will. Lol
I'm a car guy so the conversation always comes back to cars.
I have been asking question about it, and telling him to let me go thru it so he can drive it again........
On Friday after we got done hanging cabinets for the day, he told me to clean out my garage and make room for the Vette !
He gave it to me !!

All I know is that 3 tires hold air and the 4th holds for 3-5 days...
Hoping it rolls and the calipers aren't frozen.
Pics hopefully soon !

Your uncle obviously cares a great deal about you and wanted to show that with the gift of his 'vette.

He knew it was time to pass it along to someone that would really appreciate it and bring it back to the condition it should be in.

Thanks for sharing...this will be a special project because of the personal history attached to it.

Wow that's awesome of your Uncle to show you his appreciation for your help!! He obviously feels the same way about family. Looking forward to photos and seeing it being brought back to the road.

Thanks guys !
I restored Gramps 70 LS5 4-speed convertible over a six yr. period.
Its back in my other uncles possession, but supposed to come home to me eventually !
It was 38 yrs old and 87,000 mies, all there and complete, just old...
Did a complete frame off, turned out real nice !

I'm hoping this 92 will be a quick easy one....
If the 70 comes back to me, I might give the 92 to my Daughter for a wedding present down the road! (that way I will still get to drive it )

Here are some of the 2000 pics of Gramps 70...

If the '70 looks that good, then the '92 should be in good hands. Congrats.

Don't have an exact timeline yet....
Gram passed over the winter and My Uncle was her main caregiver the last 5-6 yrs.....
Got a lot of stuff from the condo just dumped at his house that needs to be gone thru and organized.
He knows I'm excited to get it and start working on it, and he just gave me the service manuals for it!

I'm hoping this week..... but I told him whenever is good for him.

I'm sure you feel like a kid waiting to open his presents at Christmas... Should be an amazing car and it will be nice to go through everything and learn the car. Once you get it back to being road worthy, you'll never want to stop driving it!

Very sorry to hear about your brother. Even when something is anticipated, it's never expected to happen. Had that with my Mom last November. Knew it was coming but still a shock when it happened.

You're in our prayers.
