Default led b/u bulbs

1156 led bulbs won't fit in my 1156 sockets. I think it's the flange on the led bulb.

I had trouble with my LED back-ups also. They lite up and they were in very tight but could never turn and lock them in. Rather than sending them back, I put a light coating of silicone sealant on the outer-lower end of the shaft so the bulb would not work it's way loose. 3 years and all is fine.
You are correct, it's the top design that want let the bulb go all the way to the bottom.

Yep, just did this. The LED array base is just a little too big in diameter to fit. I just filed away the board a little all around till it fit. A little dielectric grease helps too. I got pretty good by the 3rd one (did the cornering lights too)

I used the following on my 85 and didn't have any fitment issues at all. They twisted and locked in as expected.

I used them on all four reverse lights as well as the front cornering lights. Plenty bright for what I need.

I ordered a tower bulb that had no clear glass around it. The bulb described in your link is a better bulb to fit. It was not available from Superbright when I ordered.

ThanX, that's what I'll order.

I have the Sylvania Zevo 1156 LED bulbs in my '86.

I had the fitment issue also and with the soft sockets, I was able to slightly trim the inner edge of the bulb opening to create a slight bevel.

These bulbs made a world of difference.
