The waiting for Irma to arrive sure is boring, but tomorrow I guess things will be the worst Sunday.
It's getting closer!

Here in Jacksonville and have the windows boarded up. C409 is in Clearwater Florida. I shot him a PM a while ago and haven't heard back, more than likely he hauled *** out of there. Big shout out to Jim Barth, aka TPI421vette who sent me a text asking how I was making out. I think he's just worried I may try to work on my hot mess in the garage during the hurricane.

I live about two miles from Disney. I think it'll be ok here. May lose power for a day or so. Only bad news is without a garage my daughters C4 convertible will be riding the storm out. Looks like winds only going to hit 90 so the top should hold up. No trees around (other than palm) so shouldn't be a lot of flying debris.

We are getting blasted with heavy gusts and rain...have been for several hours. I have all my vehicles including the vette in the garage. Looks lke we have another 24 hrs of this while Irma moves north..moving slow ans jst pounding us with outer bands. It will get worse as the core moves further north. Stay safe.

Us Crazies are riding it out. My house is in Trinity area between New Port Richey and Tarpon Springs. We left and drove 30 minutes east to my brothers in Lutz. He has a generator that will power entire house for 25 days on propane. So we're hunkered down for now. Our house is boarded up and just got done boarding up my brothers. Hopefully I have something to go back to on Tuesday. Storm just shifted further West, anyone directly on coast needs to get out now!! Or, we can all get on our roofs like Lt Dan and yell at the storm.

Just curious if anyone would like to share, but your state is probably headed for the worse natural disaster in recorded history.....why do some of you chose to stay?
*Edit: I did some research and there have been plenty of other really bad hurricanes and to me it looks like it will loose a lot of steam before landfall. I got caught up in the media hype. Question still stands though.

1. I am in charge of 30 employees have to make sure they are good.
2. Family is here need to take care of them.
3. You can't really leave, I mean, you can but there is a good chance you will get stuck on am interstate with no gas. There is no gas ANYWHERE in Tampa bay area. State troopers have been escorting tankers from port to stations as much as they can but they are all stopped until storm passes.
4. There is a lot of uncertainty. For inatance, 48 hours ago it was surely going to hit Miami and ride up East coast. People over in Miami (over 1 million people) evacuated over here. Now it's going to hit here! And likely a lot of people who evacuated to Georgia will be hit with a cat 1 to tropical depression storm. It took a friend 29 hours to get from Tampa to Atlanta (normally 8 hour drive).
Unless you fly out, which is hard with pets, Not much you can do. Florida is built for hurricanes more than any other state. It will be nasty and horrific, but we will make it through.
Sorry for grammatical errors on phone with fat fingers.

Just got up to find we are now under a Tropical Storm warning near Montgomery. Birmingham may b under one by the afternoon. We'll be the very edge of the storm. Well see nothing compared to you down in Florida. Just gives a scale to this thing. For us it will be a long thunderstorm event.
Will be watching for those in the real s*** to check in and let us know your safe once this gets past.
BTW, Watching Jim Cantore on the Weather channel and there's a white C5 in the background.

Outside, right now, broken branches and trees down all over the complex.
The storm should arrive at 1400 HRS EST.

We made it thru ok !! Lots of tree damage and millions without power. We were on generator and using a 13K BTU roll around spot cooler Sunday night after the storm...slept cool in our downstairs bedroom. Got power back at 1:30 PM yesterday.
This was my first hurricane with high Impact windows and doors...no shutters required !! I am here to tell you they work !! We had a front row seat to everything going on out side.
Many others did not fair as well...we have a newer Concrete Block Stucco home with a Hurricane Zone Tile Roof...very solid and quiet
Everything is getting back to normal slowly but still wide spread power outages, crap in the roads and long lines at the few gas stations open.
How is everyone else in Irma's path ?

We made out alright. No property damage and it appears my house never lost any power. My pool was overflowing with water so drained it a bit and off we went. All the trees near the pond at the back of my property were bent clean over like someone bent them by hand, pretty cool. All my old Oaks and 1 big Magnolia tree were good.
The Vette made the journey home yesterday from my brother's garage over in Lutz, handled pretty well even in tropical storm force winds
