Hurricane Irma Florida Checkin
Looks like the entire Florida Peninsula is going to be affected by Hurricane Irma.
We are all buttoned up and hunkered down in Ft. Lauderdale at 26.04 N/ 80.25 W.
I have my little Polo Green Rag Top safely tucked away in my garage.
To all my Florida C4 Buds...stay safe...this one will be tough but we will survive.

we're in palm coast, half way between st augustine and daytona beach - 6 miles from the atlantic, and just west of flagler beach. 85's tucked away. not much more we can do but wait it out. we have a standby generator, extra gas, food, water, and we're good to go. to all my fellow floridians, stay dry and safe -

Survived Andrew but we were on the west coast it took all of the shingles off the roof.
Survived Wilma - barely. Had installed 3" lag screw-eye bolts in the 2x6 fascia every 4', Hurricane straps lagged into the foundation & screwed into the 2x6 wall studs (frame home) then eye bolts through the straps into the toe plate. Connected the eye bolts with cable & tension adjusters. Wilma tried to take the roof off 2 of the fascia lag bolts were pull out & the roof had a 1" rise in it @ that point. Had a pair of old growth Queen palms in front of the home they were snapped off ground level + 22 old growth pine trees were up rooted 2 landed on the home. Took all of the screening off of the pool cage never found the screens. There was other damage but you have an idea of what you will be dealing with. No power for 10 days used a generator that consumed 300 bux worth of fuel.
We left Florida in '06 there's a reason its called the plywood state.
Good luck

Storm (at the moment) makes Andrew look like kids play. Here's a picture showing the size of Andrew (first storm in pict) compared to Irma.
Hoping everyone makes it safe though this!!

Just curious if anyone would like to share, but your state is probably headed for the worse natural disaster in recorded history.....why do some of you chose to stay?
*Edit: I did some research and there have been plenty of other really bad hurricanes and to me it looks like it will loose a lot of steam before landfall. I got caught up in the media hype. Question still stands though.

All I can say is good luck after losing everything in Katrina in Bay St. Louis, MS 12 years ago. Nothing would surprise me about what these storms could do. Do not get complacent and keep your guard up.

I am in an evacuation zone in Fort Myers. I left Wednesday before the traffic jams and the gas shortages. But I had to leave my 89 vert behind. I am not too worried though because it is up 6' off the ground on a lift. My daily driver is on a 2nd floor of a public parking garage. Here is hoping I don't come home to a flooded house.
