Default Help Seeking a Lingenfelter 540 Big Block C4.

Thanks for your attention. I think I'm looking for my last car. Lingenfelter did some of these in the 90's, I think most came with a 540 BBC installed & I think they mostly were on the standard C4 Platform. I would probably consider pretty much any condition including crashed cars. Please fellow members....keep this in mind & let me know if you run across a ad or one. I have the money in the bank. Please PM me & I will call or give you my contact. Thanks very much! Tim

that car was here on the forum not too long ago cant remember if it was for sale or in the Gen Section. Keep bumping this up it will surface.
Too bad EPA kept Chevy from offering a big block in the c4s.

I looked real hard & all I found was a 2004 FS thread.....but please keep it in mind. I love these damn Lingenfelters.....performance without being unstreetable. Thanks!

My Dad has this one but it's not for sale. Lingenfelter converted 4 or 5 C4's with this 540 package.

Hi Tim. The car makes 638 hp @ 5800 RPMs and 639 ft lbs of torque @ 5000 RPMs. The car is a hoot to drive. My favorite thing to do is take other people for a ride. The torque is addicting. My Dad also has a 90 Callaway twin turbo car and it is also fun to drive but no where near as fun as the Lingenfelter car. What color was your car? Was it automatic or did it have the ZF6 manual transmission?

Mark

Edit: Sorry Tim, I just reread your original post. I thought you had a 540 car in the past and were looking to find it again.

Mark, Thank you very much. I kinda envisioned it to be that way. Does you're Dad need to adopt a near 60 year old????? I'll take the garbage out!!! haha. Please let me know if you run across one up for sale. I like how it's big power with simplicity. Thanks, Tim

LOL. Tim, I'm in my 50's also. The car is a 90 and was converted by Lingenfelter in 92. With the technology and advances today, a 540 ci engine can put out way more horsepower. If you do a search in You Tube for "540 C4 Corvette" you will see another guy here in Florida who has done a very good job of his own conversion.

I have yet to see another C4 Lingenfelter 540 car but by my research they did 4 or 5 of this same conversion.

Lingenfelter does not have many old records that go back this far but this car has been to Lingenfelter at least a couple of times years ago to have different work done to it. One of the Lingenfelter sales associate verified this by the VIN number before my Dad purchased it.

Default C5 Lingenfelter

I have a 2002 Red Vette with factory Lingenfelter 550 hp package with over 20k in mods. It only has 21k mi and would be interested in selling. Thanks, Joseph

If you can’t even get your own father to sell you one, what are your chances with a total stranger ? On some forums they don’t want you to mention vehicles you’ve seen for sale, or I could have alerted people here about a couple. This kind of thread might just get some results, though they are really rare cars.

Old guys probably remember Motion Performance and Nickey that used to “ back door” big block Chevy’s when you couldn’t get them from a regular dealer.

last year in the OKC area, there was a guy who was selling an 84 or 85 c4 that had a Gen IV Vortec 454 engine in it. the engine filled the engine bay for sure. it got sold, and then i saw it earlier this summer down near a TX border....then it got sold again....
i have not seen a Lingenfelter 454 anywhere in my looking... good luck!

know you want the name behind it but today you can buy a stout 540 for reasonable $
Why wait, do your own. Will be less $ and you know everything about it. Nothing can replace that low end torque only a BB can provide
LS fanboys just dont know any better. lol

It wasn't the EPA it was CAFE would take a hit.The LT1 at 300 hp standard took away from doing it.The BBC was thought to be thrifty way around the LT5. With EFI the emission headaches of the past could be easily solved through tuning. GM wasn't pushing BBC even it trucks they were very concerned about meeting CAFE standards.
