I've been bitten by the C4 bug
I've been toying with the idea of getting back into the car scene with a C4. I've had a handful of modified fbodies, 300zx, Jeeps, and currently a boat. For some reason the C4 has held a spot in my heart all these years and now I'm in a position to get what I want.
I really, REALLY like the GS and the ZR1s. My concern with the GS is maintaining emissions/safety inspection passability. The ZR1 has me concerned about part availability.
My main concern is space. I'm a big fella at 6'5" and 275lbs. Am I going to fit and have some comfort? I'm petty comfy in my wife's CLK550 so I think I can make it work. What do y'all think.

Best advice is to have a seat in one. I'm 6 ft 220 with a 31 inch in seam. I think there is enough room for your legs. However, I don't know about the seat. my sport seats fit tight for me. I don't have a bubble butt but it surprised me when it was rather tight. You should try one out at a dealership. You may have to learn some new yoga moves getting in and out though! You sort of wear it instead of riding in it.
WEK.

In my state once a car passes 20 years emissions are no longer checked, not sure other states do that? Last time I went in for an inspection they told me no longer needed to hook up to the OBD2 connector !
I'm 6' 2" about 230, I fit with a few inches above my head, but you are on the edge for sure, otherwise just remove the top and drive it on nice sunny days. I seem to recall that is how Tom Selleck had to drive the Ferrari in Magnum PI because he was too tall, so you never saw him driving with the top on!

The 94+ had wider sport seats: you'll need them, or exchange them for the BASE mo seats (I love mine and so does my wife)
Highly recommend you sit in a late ZR-1 to judge headroom. Joe Thomas drives a late ZR-1, and being a tall, big man too, he'd be able to discuss the room question.
My wife is just a tad over 6'-1" and we discovered the glass top has just a bit more headroom, for what that's worth.
Back to the C4, you sit IN a C4, but ON a C5. You'll have to be the judge.

No issues here. There is a pretty decent aftermarket for most parts. Plus the ZR1 crowd is pretty passionate and are very willing to help each other.

OP: I know the sport seats in my 90 ZR-1 were ridiculously narrow for me - installed standard 95 seats and love them, and did the same for my wife's 91 ZR-1. The seats are so comfortable that we have no comfort issues driving cross-country; having to stop for nature or gas rather than because of the seats being uncomfortable.
The sport seats in 94 were fairly good, but the 95-96 sport seats in the Z and in the 96 GS are great for bigger ppl like many of are.
As for ZR-1 parts, except for the motor and some body panels/doors, the Z is a C4. As for parts, between Jerry's Gaskets and the ZR-1 Registry and the ZR-1 community, there isn't anything to worry about, far as parts go, for one, and the LT5 is a rock solid jewel DOHC motor, mitigating the kinds of concerns typical of some other motors.

Good to know about the part availability. I will keep them on the list.... provided I fit. I'm running a 40" waist on a 34" inseam so it'll be a push. Also, I flop around on 14-15 sized shoes.

Never any issues with my 91 or 93 ZR-1, 93 is stock with modded chip and catback, 91 just had its last trip to emissions and passed easily with headers aftermarket cats and 500HP package.

I'm 6'4" though the doctor says I've shrunk a 1/2" or so in the last year, 220lbs. I've got an 86 convertible plus I've ridden in a couple of 86 coupes. I think with the top up the convertible has a little more headroom. If I'm first in line at a light I do need to stoop a little to see overhead lights if the top is up.
I've got a 5 speed Tremec in mine. There's a difference in which shoes you wear if you have big feet (13's in my case). Some of the wide sole shoes are difficult to work the pedals with. Personally when I'm driving a distance, I like to drive barefoot. It's easier to move your feet between the pedals plus I think you have a better feel driving barefoot.
My 2 cents.

He had his cars modified so he would fit
i dont think the op is gonna fit well at all;at 6'3 and headroom wasnt enough driving a stick even worse
Youll have to spend some time in one youll definitely want the std seats not the sport they are narrower
Think a GS would be the most comfortable. Zs have thier charm but you wont be walking into the auto parts store when you need something.
If you wanted something quick and a little more roomy ck out a C6 or C5z they are coming down in price
