OK. Here ya go:

I have two cars with classic car insurance.
A. 1990 Corvette convertible, and B, a 1986 El Camino Choo Choo Custom SS.

I started with Hagerty 3 years ago with agreed values of $20,000 for each vehicle. They wanted $818 this year. I contacted Grundy and they quoted me $313 per year for the same coverage, a $505 difference. "How could that be? What's the catch?" I wondered. So, I had two separate insurance agents compare the two policies and they both said they were the same coverage. They said that different companies rate and charge things differently. Obviously, I went with Grundy at $313 per year.

[ A big "Thank You" to the Grundy agent at the World Of Wheels Show in Pittsburgh this past January ]

Best of luck with your choice.

I have stated value of $24,000.00 on my 1996 base. I had to submit a bunch of photos. My cost is $197.53 every six months. Dan

I have State Farm with Multi-car (house) with full coverage on my '92 with decent deductibles and towing coverage for just over $200 every 6 months. They said I can get better rates as an antique vehicle, but I would need to have an appraisal done. I expect a good appraisal would be expensive.

I haven't switched insurance yet but I have a quote through Grundy for 10k agreed value on my 84'. Unlimited mileage and has to be stored in a garage. $250 comp/collision deductibles. I'm 27 and married. $208/year.

I tried NCM but was told they can't write a policy in NY so then I tried Hagarty which was way more expensive than Grundy. Plus Hagarty limited my mileage to like 3k a year. I only drive like 3k or less a year BUT I don't want my insurance company telling me I can only drive so many miles a year.

I will switch to Grundy pretty soon. I currently have Geico.

I've had my T-Bird and Vette insured with Berkley now for 4 years on the Vette and 2 on the T-Bird (once it hit 20 yrs). $10K on the Vette and $8K on the T-bird agreed value for about $400 a year. I did a bunch of upgrades on the Vette and wanted to up the value to $15K on it, easy to do and cost me about $30 more a year IIRC.

Only downside I've found so far is in about 2 years I want to drive Route 66 to the west coast and they said it would take a temporary rider to cover it on the trip but it's a simple process to do.

I put less than 3K miles on both cars a year and though I don't know what mileage limit is, they've said I'm below it. I even asked about taking one about 250 miles for my 50th class reunion, no problem.

I can't say I'm displeased with them but I'll always keep my eyes open for options in case something interesting comes up.

It would be interesting to know who has multiple brands of vehicles under one policy. Seems a few only insure only one type of vehicle while others it's not a limitation.

Default from a NCM user- experience with a claim

The question no one has asked is what experience you've had if there was a total loss. I have an 09 Z06 and had an '11 2SSRS Gen 5 Camaro L99 which were at time of wreck insured with an agreed value.

I had the unfortunate experience to have an idiot driver run a stop sign as I was 1 car length from an intersection, totaling the 2SSRS which had the front off the car pushed 12 inches to the passenger side, tearing up the front fascia, the front left and right side, hood and other metal parts, plus frame damage all in excess of $23K. I made sure I went back remeasured the intersection (an important thing to have exact distances etc for the investigation)and where everyone was; but NCM and their underwriters (American Modern Insurance Group) settled for the agreed value ~$35000 and then paid an inflation rate based on 2 quarters of insurance usage in that year..an extra ~$1600. No argument, just an investigation which found- as I expected and as the facts supported I wasn't at fault. We settled in 3 weeks..so it was very fast and completely fair.

We ended up replacing the white 2SSRS L99 with a '15 red hot Z/28.. and I'm insured with NCM. I won't disclose the price, but its higher than some here claim..however my agreed on value is what I paid for the car $ 55K for my '09 Z06 (delivery 750 miles) and $53K on the Z/28 (at delivery 318 miles).

The quick payoff and the fair way I was dealt with - has completely sold me on NCM. I continue to be insured with NCM, and can vouch for their insurance. How a company handles its claims goes a long way. W

While NCM isnt paying me..Adam if you want,...I wear a pre-washed XL t-shirt.

They have mine, therein lies the plus of having receipts for everything so I could put an agreed value on it that I was happy with.

I don't recall if I had to send in the spreadsheet I keep of receipts though.

Defiantly Call Adam at the museum. We pay less for 6 cars with a rough combined agreed value of over 150g, then we pay for our 14 Escalade. Garage kept, mileage allowed is 5000 a year I think? A few might be less, Wife deals with the policies. Some stipulations like driving to work, having a primary vehicle ect.. ( 96 GS, 94 ZR-1, 56 Belair Vert, 00 Vette vert, 38 Ford Coupe Deluxe, 03 Lightning on the policy) Great to deal with!
