Default Fuel Tank Bladder?

Simple question, I am restoring a 1990 Corvette and the first hiccup I have hit is that most of the bladder is in chunks at the bottom of the tank. Is it necessary to find a tank with a bladder in it or can I go with one of the many bare tanks?
Thanks in advance.

It'll wash the outer layer and rust it out quickly. I looked and couldn't find one with a bladder, so I got this one.

Happy with it so far. I found it by running the part number through amazon, as the car search failed to pull anything up.

Thanks for the reply. I ordered a new tank pump and sender last night and opted for the bare thank like you. All things willing this shouldn't be too much of a headache, right?

You have to pull the bumper cover. Nothing hard. Nothing but a lot of patience and little BS fasteners.

Just hammer away at it.

Good luck!

Keeping it full reduces condensation too. When the weather turns cool, moisture condenses on the exposed metal inside the tank. That's where the rust comes from. Which is why gas tanks are polypropylene today. No condensation, no rust.

What typically happens with a steel tank is that the bottom rusts out. Water is heavier than gasoline. Condensation sinks to the bottom of the tank and works its magic.

Thanks all. Last time I dealt with this was the 94 firebird formula I restored after it sat for 12 years and that was a nightmare to replace because of suspension and exhaust placement.
