I know you all are probably sick of my red 86.... Cant help it, I'm a picture *****. I just cant believe what an improvement an inch and a half can make on the rear wheels.... So much better....

I like it!
I had a 89 (along with the 91 ZR1) so tell me what kind of wheels are on the rear and the size? Any other modifications or just bolt on?
Nice look!

Nothing better than filling the wheel wells to the max. It looks great!

Some people like the tucked in "factory" look of cars in general. You see many (here) concerned that tires don't sit ANYWHERE NEAR outside the wheel well. Reasons for that vary and can be good -- including concern for rocks flying and/or paint chipping.
Personally, I think the factory "set" the wheels in too far. I like tires sitting exactly at the outer line of the car...or even just a tad beyond it. I see (as often advertised by aftermarket wheel manufacturers) a more aggressive stance.
I like this stance so much that I considered it when buying my 3rd set of wheels in 2014 (when two of the 2nd set were broken). I ordered and put a set (probably from this manufacturer?) on my 89. I bought a set designed for earlier C4s. The fronts sit exactly as I like them (described above). Basically, they are a HAIR outside flush. The rears are around 3/4" out.
With the wheel flairs so characteristic of the Corvette body, this mod just seems to accentuate the natural lines of the body more. For those who consider the C4 the most demure of body styles, it's a VERY good way to inject some pizzazz. I would go so far as to say a "narrow body" base with wide wheels strikes me better than a ZR1 (wide body).
That doesn't mean I don't think the ZR1 is a better car. Baby steps, people....baby steps!
One of these days I'd like to buy my 4th set of wheels and get something "special" from Coddington. Wheels are one of the best ways (if not THE best) to upgrade/update the appearance of ANY car!
Very nice pics 81c3!!!
