Default How cold is too cold ?

At what temperature do you park your Vette ?

We have a beautiful sunny day..... just cold out.
24 degrees with a feels like 16 degrees.

I have the summer sport tires, not the all-season....

Any thoughts as to any bad that could come from taking it out today?

The dry roads and sunshine are calling my name......and too cold for the bikes !

Cold is not the issue, weather is. Cold can make it run more fun.

I don't park due to cold, these things can generate plenty of heat for the interior. I park for rain and snow.

Summer tires tend to dislike it below about 40 though, so they'll be slippery.

Here in MI, at least for me, it’s more about road condition than temperature. I’ve taken her out for a spin in the 20s when the sun is bright and the roads are clear/dry.

This was mid-January, beautiful day for a drive.

Yep summer tires like heat. So enjoy and use caution when feeling frisky.

Yeah, I agree; it is not a temperature thing for me so much as a wet issue.

I'll drive my old X3 with 151k whenever there is a hint of rain, be it 95 degrees or 40.

Thanks for all the replies !
I'm off to run some errands in the Vette.
I will be cautious with the tires..... but I cant believe they could be worse than the 25 yr old original tires i took off this spring !

When I sit in the freezing cold leather seats and scream "WTF!!!" that's when I generally park it for the winter! Because in New England when we hit that point snow is not far behind!

It's been around 40 degrees up in the northeast today and I took my GS out for a run on some awesome winding back roads today and she ran like a raped ape!

I figure around another month and a final wash then under the cover and in the garage until March.

Temps don't stop me from driving mine....even with summer tires. Use common sense, you'll be fine.

Got a little ride in before traffic got stupid, tires seemed a little louder and harsher than in the higher temps..... And a lot more slip than grip !
But the noise could be my imagination..... I usually have the windows down, little different sounds with them up.
Pic of the last time I washed it 11/1/17.....current mileage 22,893

Some summer tires are not designed to be even stored at low temperatures. The tread will crack or other catastrophic failures. Outside of that, there's a dramatic difference in traction until they're heated up.

The tires on my C6 should not be used below 40 deg as per the mfr.

Rain, or anything in the 40s and snow of course. Now, if it's a c&c event, and in the upper 30s or above, I take the vette.

I just roar when people won't drive their vette in the rain. Unless it's because they don't want to clean it up after, there is zero reason not to drive it.
As far as cold goes, so what.
I've always driven mine up to the first snow fall, then it goes away until spring after the salt is washed off the roads

watch your tire pressure this time of year. Last week it was 70 degrees, this morning its 25. Pressure went from 32 to 25.
