Default 1986 Wiper Switch Removal

My wipers only work on high and mist. I do not have low or normal speed. I haven't taken anything apart yet. Do you have to take the door panel off to access the switch or is there an easier way??

Thanks for the help!!!

Before you do all that work, get some electrical contact cleaner and use the spray straw to squirt the cleaner down the slot. Work the slider up and down a few times with an additional spray or two. Be sure to get the spray straw under the rubber dust shield.

Taking the door panel apart doesn't get you anything unless you are planning to replace the controller. It can't be taken apart!

Pretty simple actually.

What condition are your window sweep? As long as the door is off, you might as well swap them if needed.

It may not be your switch. It could be your wiper motor cover.

I am assuming the answer to my question is "yes" the door panel must be removed to install a new wiper switch.

Had to buy a new wiper switch for my 88 four years ago. Prices are going up. My switch stopped working on high speed. Install a LED bulb when you get a switch. Twice as bright.

Yes the panel has to come off. Disconnect the power door lock switch and the rear hatch switch as you pull the panel off. The door lock Indicator is fun to re-install. Nothing real hard here, take your time.

If you remove the panel you can spray electric cleaner on the contacts and switch plug that was my problem.

Related Question. The wipers on an 84 I picked up were not working. I removed the door card and found the white wire was disconnected. However, I am not sure where to resolder it Does anyone have a photo of one connected so I do this right?

I'm guessing the white wire goes to the left end of the long plate at the bottom. Can anyone confirm before I try and reattach it? Online photos of replacement switches show a green wire attached as well to the area below the courtesy lamp. Perhaps the colors were changed from 84 to the replacement ones.

First, welcome to the Corvette Forum!
Second, Your post is considered a "hijack" since your post is a new question, and doesn't address the OP's (Original Poster's) question. You are certainly welcome to post your question, but you should start a new "thread" for a new question, even though your question is similar to the OP's question. It gets confusing since an answer may be different for the OP than for you.
Third, here's a photo of my '84 wiper switch. Don't know why your wire is white, but it obviously is the power wire for the light bulb!
