The low wide stance of a C4 is unusual on the streets these days. Also the design of a C4 is just so clean & smooth; no chrome trim here & there to make it stand out and no scoops, flares, or ‘running boards’. It is simply clean, functional & unpretentious, a rare thing to see these days.

November here in the north country. Today hit 60 F, so I pulled the 92 out of storage and did a little 45 min spin, right before turning into my street on the way back, a nice C5 vert cruises by and gives me a high five. It's those little things in life that count. Glad to see other Vett owners enjoying the day!

And no grill! Park next to an Audi! The huge grill of the Audi makes it look like it's pushing a parachute!

Saw a black vette out on a rainy day maybe a week or two ago, driver was smoking a cigar, was it you?
Not me, I did get caught in some light rain with the roof off. It wasn't coming in so we kept going, that got some looks.

I've definitely been noticing a lot of head turning. Definitely a hit with the younger ones that never see cars like this. Mostly because they just don't make 'em like this anymore. But also get appreciation from older folks, too. In fact, a neighbor of mine just joined the club and got himself a '93 (copy cat! ).

That low slung, simple bullet-like design is a favorite of mine over much of the bulky, over-stylized and oversized modern cars.

My car gets plenty of attention even though its totally stock. So much so, that if I really need to make good time going somewhere, I tend to not drive it.

Although the perception of the C4 is generally frowned upon I feel it's one the best generations. Following the C3 the C4 vaulted the Corvette into the affordable exotic car territory smoking many of the exotics in acceleration, braking and handling.

Love my 88 35th Anniversary car....

It's the perfect size, fighter jet cockpit, no ugly grill(s) and flies under the wind. I always have passengers telling me how this person or that person is staring at the car, but I'm too busy enjoying the crap out of it to care.

I don't think there is a "general frowned upon perception" towards C4's. I get lots of compliments and thumbs up's just about everytime I take mine out. People seem to like and appreciate it. I don't get where that could come from.

Are you aware of your surroundings at all? The C4 is usually regarded as the worst generation. It was labeled that by know-nothing idiots and unfortunately it stuck. Only recently has the perception on them been turning around. I have had many people ask me why I bought the worst generation or told me to just sell it and get a "real Corvette like the C5". Look on youtube, almost every C4 video there are plenty of comments from bozo's saying the C4 is their least favorite gen or they just plain hate it. It's just people who jumped on the C4 hate bandwagon. They are like the people who's favorite team is whoever wins the superbowl.

I've been around Vetts my whole life. I'm well aware of my automotive surroundings, and well aware of what and who matter when it comes to opinions on any car I own. I have quite a few. But only speak of my C4 here. The "know nothing bozo's" are just that. Their perception of a Corvette doesn't matter to me nor should it matter to any of us C4 owners. We all know those type idiots. The general public on the other hand view C4's as Corvettes. And from those real people, I see and get mostly positive opinions on my C4. Most of the C4 bashing seems to come from people posting on this forum. A place where they can irritate the most owners. "Know nothing idiot bozos". Excellent description.

I still get some positive comments from time to time from people sometimes at stop lights or the gas station. Not quite as much as my C3 got but that is understandable as that car really stood out.

I just stopped to get gas in my 88 35th. As i was getting back in the car a nice looking lady in her 40s walked up and asked if i had a light. I told her sorry and as she turned to walk away she looked back and said really nice looking car.

Might as well contribute since the thread was revitalized yesterday.

I never knew there was any hate for C4s. Bought this one less than three weeks ago (first time Corvette owner). First thing I did is clean it up a bit and drop in at a CarsAndCoffee.
Put the hood up, walked away to talk with some folks and was very surprised at the number of folks that came over to look it over.
And, yeah, the car is definitely getting looks, waves and thumbs up.

I've noticed the same thing. I don't drive my car to work often because our roads suck, but when I do, the car does get noticed. Several people will fly up behind me, slow-ride as they pass so they can check out the car and then get back on the gas. Even caught a few people taking pictures.

puterami - I think our cars were separated at birth.
