Default C4 Power Seat Track, Gear Box disassembly

Typical non-functioning power seat track. Took the gear box apart to take a peak...lot's going on in there

Good Stuff, looks like a few easy to put in wrong places or forget- are those small magnets you remove...where did you find replacement parts? Awesome for NCRS people like me.
Thanks. This should be a sticky!

well, i plan to make the caps myself as stated in the last section of the video (i included my CAD drawing) and for the main housing i will just use a quality JB Weld Plastic Expoxy and i might plastic weld the outside for extra support.

My "belief" is that people that sell these as rebuilt just accumulate the junk ones (buy them cheap knowing half the guts are still useable) and drill out the rivets, replace the broken caps, then rivet it back up and sell them for a very reasonable price. the problem with that is...the guts are still 25 years old and they WILL fail again..maybe even the first time you use your new refurbished track.

oh and before i forget (again) those aren't magnets they are actually a well thought out design for what seems like a poorly thought out design (confused yet??) At first thought one would think that the plastic caps are a bad idea, why not make them out of a durable metal?? but then we would have metal-on-metal (the shaft and the cap) which is never a good idea so they went with plastic for the cap and those tiny metal disc's are actually 2pc's and they act as a buffer between the end of the gear shaft and the cap. the 2 discs spin on one another (they are tiny concave and polished discs). my video says there are 4 sets but i believe there should be 6 sets just based on the design so i assume i still have 2 sets in their proper location which means i need to be careful next time i pick that stuff up..a person really doesn't want to lose those discs!

thanks for the participation!
