I believe I am looking for a "door lock retainer." This retainer is a clip that holds the lock rod (from the exterior door handle) to the latch mechanism. This is a picture of the interior of my '85 Corvette (race car). The lock rod & the latch mechanism (with the hole) I believe should be attached (w/ the lock retainer clip). My door will NOT either close or open without this connection.

I found one in a Dorman Help assortment. I think the Dorman part number is 75455.
