Default FINALLY after sanding and sanding and....

After Six months, sanding off five repaints, three color changes, a couple of old repairs, I'm finally finished with my repaint. The only parts that were painted on the car were the quarter panels and halo bar. I was quite surprised at how easy the Dupont Chroma was to spray, especially the clear coat. I used a Devilbiss Starting Line gun to spray it all on. I am very happy with the results. Amazing what you can do if you follow the instructions and never give up.

I went through the process back in 2012. Mine had no color changes but several resprays.

Your car is looking great! Good job.

Can you be specific as to what sanding procedures, grits etc that you used?

It requires a lot of effort and talent to get results like that.
Great job!

I sanded off the old paint with 120 grit and a DA sander. I tried 80 grit, it was faster but I had never used a DA sander before so the 120 grit was easier to control while I was learning and I was in no hurry. If you throttle it down you can strip off a single layer of paint at a time. I was surprised how flat the DA sander left the surface even with my lack of experience.

On the bumpers I used paint stripper for flexible bumpers. I sanded off most of the two gallons of primer surfacer I used starting with 120 grit block sanding and ending up with 600 grit wet.
