With spring here I decided it was time to drop the top and enjoy the weather. The battery was dead, hooked up a charger, clicking noise started when energized the car under front of hood around headlights, can feel the hammer effect on left headlight the most. Disconnect the charger, electrical system dies and tapping or hammering stops as well. Any ideas? Thanks, Harry

Low voltage does weird stuff sometimes.
Maybe charge the battery for awhile with one of the battery cables disconnected, then repeat.

Disconnect the battery and charge it up. I would rather charge it off car than on car simply because I don't trust the battery charger not to spike.

Been using a battery tender for 6 years now, never an issue!

I have been using the Deltran Battery Tender on my 1990 also and now I don’t have to replace my battery every other year.

HarryBC it sounds like you need a new battery.

I completely agree with this! Why chance it? How long does it take to remove the battery cables..........30 seconds? Remember as old as our cars are getting, a lot of the electronic/electrical parts are getting hard to find. It’s your car though, just sayin!
