Mobil 1 sale and rebate
Just for your info Walmart has a sale on the 5 qt. jugs of Mobile 1 at $22.88 and Mobil 1 filter at $9.97. Mobile has a $17.00 rebate on 5 qt. and a filter. My total cost was $35.15 w/tax and my rebate is $17.00 making the total cost for an oil change at $18.15. Rebate is on until the end of May. Dan

Ranked first in this test. I do know sometimes these "Tests" are paid for. I read one test that ranked them the best and said they were the same as a K&N. Dan

just noticed this on the Walmart website - $19.98 Cyber Week Specials on Mobil 1 Synthetic 5 Quart Motor Oil. i'm assuming it's this week and not sure if the in-store purchase price is the same, but if so, twenty less twelve (rebate) is 8-friggin bucks for 5 qts of M1 synthetic -- insane -
I have a decent stock of M1 for the corvette, but a couple 5-qt jugs of 0W-20 for the wife's honda is in order today -

NOT to be a broken record, but especially for those new to the Corvette world "MOBIL 1" is a brand name that provides different oils for dozens of specific applications: one size does NOT fit all! And, to be more to the point, oils specifically designed for (pre-1987* Corvette)engines with FLAT TAPPETS meet the higher lubricity requirements, i.e., have significantly higher zinc and phosphorous content - [Mobil-1 lists Mobil-1 15W-50 containing 1200 ppm/1300ppm phosphorous-zinc (respectively)].
Don't take my word for it. Do your own research. However, I'm hoping my repertoire of experience which does include cam lobes on a flat tappet 350/350 SBC that got wiped nearly OFF will help someone avoid having to do an overhaul following a cam failure resulting in cam lobe particulate circulating in the oil...mission accomplished![/I]

*With the introduction of catalytic converters, the relatively high levels of phosphorous and zinc, typically added to motor oils to provide necessary lubricity, resulted in early failure of those "cats".
Reducing the phosphorous/zinc (ZDDP) concentrations (from 1200/1300 ppm to ~800/900) has a direct positive effect on catalytic converter life. But, reduced ZDDP made it necessary to reduce sliding friction, i.e., switching to roller tappets was key to being able to reduce the levels of phosphorous/zinc concentrations.

Got my annual Mobil 1 deal already! Thanks!
At WalMart, the in-store price is sometimes higher than the online price. If you want the online price, buy it online and select in-store pickup (usually free).

I bought two at the store price of $28.47 for 5 qt and a couple days later found the online price $22.99 (a roll-back I guess). So I bought two more jugs online, did the in-store pickup and took them straight to the return counter with my in-store receipt from the first purchase. Saved nearly $10, felt like cheating but I wasn't

LOL sorry, I'll change my post from "usually" to "sometimes." With the rebate it's still a crazy deal either way.

Mobil 1 Rebate
I just went to Walmart to buy a couple of jugs of Mobil 1 and filters. When I returned home I went to the Mobil site and found out that Walmart is not one of the participating retailers.
Has anyone received the rebate after purchasing at Walmart?
Thanks, Barrier

why do you think Walmart is not one of the participating retailers?
