Tire question and thoughts
Hi guys looking for some thoughts - with our surface of the moon potholes here in the Detroit and suburbs area (and no sign of a real fix) I'm trying to get more rubber between me and the road. Currently running the stock 275 40 17s. I was wondering if anyone knows if 275 50 17s will fit without rubbing? I know it will look a little odd but I can live with it as long as it works. Nitto make a tire this size (I think they are the only ones). Thanks in advance guys !!

I don't know the answer, but this discussion looks like it's getting some traction (yeah, I said it).

Maybe plug your numbers here https://www.wheel-size.com/calc/?whe...cl=50mm&sr=0mm
See what comes out of it.
I used this site when I was looking at changing rims and tires and it was beneficial to me.

I think it would be better to just upsize to 285/40/17 tires, which were included as stock on the later, staggered-width C4s. The 285 will have about 0.6" more diameter and also 10mm more width, with consequently more air volume and load capacity. You can run it at a lower pressure because of that, which will provide a little more cushion. The problem is that there are very few options still available in that size.
