Thats a fairly accurate description. For me, they can look good at certain angles on certain colors, but overall they look too long, heavy and rounded/melted. Even if I could like the exterior, that melted throat lozenge look on the interior design completely unsells the car. Many designs from this era show this.
And I will add that I think the 1st gen C4 design is the best and purest both the inside and outside. I havent lusted over a Vette design until C7 came out.

Ive got a C4 and a C5. I like them both for different reasons and make my driving selection based on my mood.
It like picking the athletic blonde or the curvy brunette.

that being said.. wish I had 100 extra hp and the transmission in the rear of my athletic blonde. Lets face it, the c4 is a bcup at best.

What was the reason for the big butt anyway? Transmission? That 5th suspension tie in to support roll? Tell me it wasnt a styling choice.

Melting Slicks
Big Butts and C cups. I don't see the problem.

The only problem I have with the c5 really is that they did the exterior and updated it. I get it. But then it's like when they went to do the interior they kind of just stopped like it was good enough. I always felt the c5 was like an iteration of the c4, let's give it rounded and smoothed edges.

I would lower your c4 by 1" if I were you. I did and I love it. $20 for two bolts and 45 min of my precious invaluable time. If your wheel to fender clearance were the same as your c5 it would then show just how fat of an a$$ it has.

Here in the Seattle area we often take ferries between Seattle and several of the surrounding islands. C5s & C6s even at stock height can have problems actually high siding on the entrance ramp to the ferry depending on the tides. The C4 at stock height doesn't have this issue.
As a side note for perhaps another discussion; My belief is that you should not lower the rear of your C4 without also lowering the front. My understanding has always been that it is important to maintain the rake angle established by the factory both for stability at high speeds as well as maintaining the drag coefficient.

I get ya but ....... beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Some guys like Twiggy and some guys prefer Raquel Welch.
