Don't take this the wrong way, but do you have the firing order correct on the plug wires? Ask me how I figured that one out....

pull spark plug nr 1 and find tds , set a mark on the balancer , disconekt the brown wire . set timing ....

You too? lol.

Definitely check that the plug wires are on the right order and that your timing is set with the est wire disconnected. BTW, the one pic you posted of it, there was another brown connector right next to it facing down. That wasn't the other half?
