Refurbishing wheel wells
Anyone have any proven tips, tricks on refurbishing the wheel wells? I want to bring them back to that new, black plastic look. I’ve tried Back to Black and it works ok but wasn’t sure if there was something more permanent or better looking...and no, no Black spray paint my friends! Lol

on my 85 - periodically, a good cleaning with prep-sol, and a top coat with stoner's trim shine. I recoat a couple time per year. they may not look brand new, but they look extremely nice for a DD. whatever you do, DO NOT take anything abrasive to the plastic (ABS) liners. a friend of mine tried to clean his C5's inner fender wells with steel wool - - ended up looking like schitt.

Remove them you can do a much better job it also gives you a chance to repaint the hardware clean with a good de-greaser and a soft brush I than use Pledge furnisher polish as it give a nice simi shine and does not attract dust and dirt like some of the tire shine does..
Before cleaning
Note I do not recommend this unless they are in very bad shape. I have seen others clean with scotch brite and re paint them. but doing this only gives you one option in the future when the paint looks bad do it again.

On mine I just cleaned them (easier said than done), then used 303 protectant. That worked pretty well and now it seems a lot easier to clean them than before.
Good luck.

I usually wipe them down really well with mineral spirits to remove any tar and grime. Follow that with Simple Green and a good rinse, then dry. Finally, I use a synthetic polymer non-wax, like ICE or NXT to give it a really nice, deep black even look.
I should add that I agitate the nooks and crannies with a med/soft carpet nylon type brush with the SG.

Burning Brakes
50/50 mix of linseed oil and paint thinner. Clean the plastic good, Brush it on and wipe it off. Cheap and easy, it's been used by used car dealers for years, and it works as good and lasts as long as anything else I've seen.
