You don't need an exorcism, you just need someone to hide your wallet and checkbook.
I am at $12,214.74 as of today, with a broken a/c .

This is what happens to you after flying Boeings an AB’s for 35 years, you just need a release.

If you think cars can be expensive, try owning a 40 year old Cessna for 20 years. 1 AMU (aviation monetary unit) = $ 1000.
if you think an old Cessna is expensive, try owning a Cigarette race boat. two of Every thing to pay for.

Will be in 4 sale section soon, but I won't sell unless the exorcism drives the devil out of the POS.

Idk man, even with $100 an hour for labor I still don’t get how you’ve got that much money in it. You said you paid about $10k for the car but still expected to put at least $5k into it for repairs and maintenance for the initial investment? Why would you pay top dollar and still expect to dump a huge amount into it up front?

IMO your mechanic is ripping you off. Those prices seem way out of line for what you had done. 1500 to repair the A/C? Is he replacing the entire system? I found a kit (compressor, receiver/dryer, o-rings & expansion valve) at Rock Auto for $450.

So he's charging you $1000 in labor? Find a new mechanic ASAP.

It's done. cast out the devil 6 times early Sat. am. 3 times inside the car and 3 times outside. I pray it works

I planed to use the car for long trips out west, so put quite a few dollars into PM. made trips to Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Taos and
Santa FE and RT 66. Also a trip in Sept. to Yellowstone. had one failure in 5k miles, the starter in the Texas panhandle. I saw that one coming so had a NAPA reman in the car, so no big deal. $271.00 parts and labor. As an ex ROLLS dealership parts mgr. I did not think any price for car repair would surprise me. the CE LT4 has beaten me into the ground. time for a C6.

you could be right.$700 to install opti spark when I supplied all the parts seems out of line to me. same shop quoted me the a/c repair when all it seems to need is clutch for compressor. told the shop owner to just change clutch, told me he would not do half a job it was all or nothing. I think I am going to give him 1 finger.

This whole post is starting to sound a little unbelievable. $15k in repairs? Exorcisms on a car? I can actually say that in all the years I've owned cars (over 40) that I've never heard of anything like you speak of. And trust me, I've dealt with lots of junk cars and lots of ripoff mechanics. I pray for your health and hope you stay strong, but you really need to stay away from cars unless they're brand new.

Wow.... as Ive said before... I must be the luckiest Corvette owner in history.... 9 Vettes, 6 C4's.... I NEVER had expenses even close to these numbers.... Honestly, most of the money I spent on any Vettes was really just because I wanted to more than the car needed the money spent on them. Ive had a variety of years.... 86,89, 90Z, 92Z, 93, 94.. and my son had a 95 that needed really nothing either... I dont get it...

I completely understand putting money into PM to keep an older car reliable. But I still can’t see how $5000 in preventative maintenance could be spent on a C4 no matter how hard you tried. Unless your pm list was “buy an extra C4”.

IF the only car I can get is from that vintage, that argument makes sense. Otherwise it is trying to rig the conditions to make something look better than it is.
