missing quite a few items. terminal cancer issues prevent me from doing any labor on car, so it's the $100 an hour labor that's "killing me". I will do the exorcism the in the AM, that I can handle. the first $5k in repairs/pm was to be expected. the second $5k,not so much. now that I am well into the third $5k I am done. $2500 for ignition work in MAY, so what happens ? a/c craps out today, quoted $ 1,500 for that repair AND the rt. headlight failed to open last week. that will be close to 2k for repairs this month, next month ? alternator of steering rack...the silver devil.

I would saying after reading all these posts, first I hope you are feeling better, and dump the car, you don't need this aggravations in car, it take effect on your health, and what you put into the car, you could bought decent C6 to drive, so my advice stop fixing, sell it has is to someone, anyone able to buy it.

Depends on what you paid for it. Depends on what is being done. Had someone sold me a C4 with a blown motor, I'd expect to put more than $5K. OTOH, today, if my C4 motor took a dump, I'd part it out or sell it to someone who wants to rebuild it and be on my way to a new toy since I can justify it. I wouldn't sell my C4 for a loss since I put money into it and need to play till it is done.

Not really sure what you mean with that statement. But if you're spending that much on a C4, and you plan on getting into a C6 you better open your wallet a LOT more! Just the parts alone on a C6 are about three times the price. When your mechanic see's you roll up in that C6 he'll see $$$$$ in his eye's BIG time. I own two 92's and a C6 and all three of them don't even get anywhere close to what you've spent on one C4 car

Do you think this was also the argument when the C4 came out? I know I heard of this when fuel injected cars came out. IT will be expensive and hard to fix was the common mantra. There are so many expensive sensors and actuators and solenoids, you'd need 2 jobs just to pay for a repair. Decades later, we see that warning hasn't panned out to something as dire as we were told.

you are right. the CE is my 5th corvette and I planed for it to be my last car. was able to do several bucket list items: hammer the Rockies and blast the high desert on 2 long trips. had no problem spending money on PM even knowing I wont be around to reap much benefit from the cost. Aklim, we all have to play the hand we are given, too bad the CE came up craps.

I respectfully disagree, Dt86. Due to my age (86) I had to get out of the vette business.
I was just comparing my present vehicles to the LT1s that I drove for 17 years.
I purchased my '93 6-spd. ruby convertible in '95 with 12K miles. Opti, water pump, seat bladders, seat track, radio, antenna, wheel center caps, coolant reservoir, rear deck hatch latch, and clutch all failed within 18 months.
Compared to my 2004 Expedition (bought new) has never had a part fail.
Wife's 2006 Mustang GT (bought new) has never had a part fail.
