Does anyone make a quality "kit" car using the C4 Format?
For my next project I want to build a quality custom vehicle. I figured I already own an nice low mileage C4 so why not use it. I like some of the Facory Five models, but they are based on the C5.
Now before ya'll start positing pics of C4 abortions with all kinds of bolt on panels and crap... Im looking for a Factory Five quality type build....
Are there any companies offering a kit using the C4?

Because you can purchase a good running C4 for the same price as a wrecked C5.....
I plan on building a new project in the future and thought what the heck, I already have a nice C4 so why not just use it. Its not like the C4 is a rare vehicle......

Maybe not rare but we do like them over here. There are many company's that will make custom frames to use the C4 running gear. As to rebodied kit cars the only ones I've seen were one off customs C5 look alike or Ferrari type bond on panel kits.

To answer the OP's question, Hunter makes a Cobra replica based on C4 chassis parts. I don't know anything else about it. 25-30 years ago there was an Cobra kit from Everett Morrison that used C4 suspension pieces.

Because the C5 has a 10" longer wheelbase and a transaxle design that won't package very well in a lot of kit projects. The C4 is much more amenable to the typical front/mid-engine, rwd designs such as Cobras and hot rods. And as for engines, you can use an LS engine in any kit - you don't have to use the C5 suspension pieces to use it.

Well again, C5 is better.
He wants quality. I have no idea of the kit he wants, but now days they use any body and put in a c5 suspension. Joe Rogan has a mid year or did with a lot of C5 stuff. (tube chassis though) Some C3's are dropped on c5's etc.
If he is just going to slap a body on the C4 there is a guy here making a custom body for it. Ford GT40.
OP...
FYI, cobra kits are way cheaper than ever. Maybe sell your car and invest 15k in a kit and finish it?

LOL, why?
The one real (as opposed to talked about but never actually produced or built) kit that I know that uses C5 gear is the GRM mid-engine coupe. It seems like a great car, but again the C5 setup does not lend itself to most front-engine projects very well. If a front-engine kit is just using the suspension arms from a C5, that's fine, but the arms alone are not what makes a C5 "better". The Everett Morrison Cobra kit, OTOH, used the entire C4 subframes and therefore retained C4 geometry. But I don't think a C5 rear subframe is going to lend itself to a project unless one intends to also use the C5's transaxle. And again, there are few kit projects where that would work.

3jsvette suggested the Mongoose kit and I love it.... With this kit, I can purchase just the chassis to start and build it to my specs. Then later on add the body and accessories.....Its not cheap, but a very cool Vette.....
