The C4 don't get any respect

Hey check out this video. We must respect the Camry more, right? I mean, it does every objective thing better. Too bad it doesn't make you smile.

If I had to drive that old carbureted car or my old 99 E300 Turbo, you bet I know which I will choose. When it comes to selling, depending on which brings the bigger price.

That's cool (for you). Nothing wrong with a decently working carb though. I have, do and will run the wee out of a carb'ed car and enjoy the hell out of it.
Not sure what carbs have to do with "respect", or the point of the above vid, though. You see that guy laughing out loud, while ripping on the 'Vette? You see him laughing out loud in the Maytag/Camry? No, ya didn't.

Camry is better, camry is better. When the C4 came out, should have enjoyed it's day in the sun. When leaner years come along and everybody is now excited about the new kind on the block, well, them are the breaks. Time's up. Accept that and move on.

I'm so done with carbs I wouldn't own another one unless it is in a lawn mower,

given the choice between a 63 corvette grand sport or a 96 corvette grand sport, i would take the c4 based grandsport

I'm sure that when the car came out, the old timers who were still in the "horse and buggy" mode made similar arguments.
Definitely would chose the newer one. I'm sure that the old timers who grew up with the 63 in his teen years would tell you that he would prefer the 63 over the golf bag toting machine that the 96 is. Dad bitches at my generation for needing a car to go to school when he had to take the bus, grandad bitches at both of us since he had to walk 5 miles to school in the hot sun, rain, snow, hail, etc, etc and so it goes on.

This is beautiful. Did you bring the parts in to get plated or purchase them? Where did you purchase? I just purchased my 86 and would like to sweeten it up some. I am thinking about mixing a little shiny with some matte black though. Just curious where I should look without the worry of overpaying. Thanks in advance.

My 91 Corvette MSRP was $32455. According to inflation calculator, it is worth $59951 today. https://www.officialdata.org/1991-do...8?amount=32455 Sorry, I'd love to buy my house today in 2010 prices too but that isn't happening.

the c4’s werent designed around golf bags like the c5’s were - so it cant be lumped into that category. A c4 vert certainly cant fit them.
But yeah the c4 its more like a c2.

<===== this old timer would prefer the 65 I had over the 96 I have, but I had completely rebuild it also. It had big wide high performance radials on it, I had machined bushing up out of teflon, put gas shocks on it. I was going down the retro-mod route in 1983. But parental responsibilities came first and the car got sold.
As far as respect, we were out for a drive tonite and we got lots of looks, some waves and some thumbs up from just people. Last night we were parked next to a 2016 Z06 at the cruise-in and some folks walked up to us and told us how nice our car looked.

IDK if they were really designed around a golf bag or not. I personally doubt it. Regardless, so what if they were? Is having more storage a bad thing? Must a performance car be spartan just because it was that way 30 years ago? Now if you were racing every day, definitely. I'm not tracking it so is there a point that I have to be doing without? If it can handle and accelerate as good as it does and is as comfortable as a full sized sedan and it is a street car, why would I want to sacrifice the comfort? Just because that was the way it was back then?

I have a a couple of MBs because they were bought reasonably and a tech who will work with me on a cash basis. I do not seem to have run out of as many parts. As. I do with a C4. Those are some of the criteria I use in car selection.

There's no comparison C4 to a C2!
I will bet that there are only a handful here in the C4 section that has ever driven a C2 in "as new" condition. I rebuilt the suspension back to "as new" in the '65 I had. Everything, bushings, bearings, shocks, brakes, the whole shooting match. Because I upgraded to gas shocks and radial tires, along with teflon bushings I machined, it was a pleasure to drive. It had a tight and precise steering as the low mike 96 I have now.

Didnt watch the vid, is the c2 the 300hp 327? One of the slowest vettes ever-
Usually choose cars on looks/use, who cares about stats. If the camry ran 12s you couldnt give me one, its a Camry.

The Vid was funny, boring Camry, or driving a '66 with side pipes...
He was having a blast with the '66. Give the '66 the newer tires, and that car would be much different.
My daily driver is an all wheel drive infiniti M35. Older, luxury type, sporty car. It's fun, but when I get in my '93, MUCH more fun. Then, if I get into my ratty old '55 vette, the fun factor triples, but performance goes WAY down. But who cares, it makes ME feel good.
It's all perspective. I think they all get respect compared to something else. Personally, I don't care what people think, I drive what I drive because I like it. I can pick my fun factor based upon how I feel when I get up (and if it's going to rain!).
Save the wave...

You're right; the 'Vette was a "300 horse" 327. Did the 1/4 in an objectively slow 16 seconds, while smokin' some tire, bangin' gears and roaring through side pipes! POh yeah.
I found this vid after I sold my C6 and I feel that it perfectly illustrates why I like the C4, and didn't like the C6. The C6 was "the Camry" to some extent; produced great numbers, but not much excitement.
So which car do *I* respect more the Camry or the C2? Cha! The C2. I don't respect the Camry at all. It's a disposable appliance.

You should watch the vid...it's awesome. It cuts to the core of differentiating "cool" cars (cars that get respect, to stay on topic here) from appliances, like the Camry. In the vid, the Camry outperforms the 'Vette in every measurable way. So the Camry is clearly the car to have -newer is clearly better. According to Aklim. But look at the driver's reactions while driving each car. He's going through motions in the Camry -and he appears to be virtually bored while doing it. OTOH, he's outright laughing out loud in the 'Vette. The Vette is fun and the Camry is not. The 'Vette is hot looking, the Camry is ugly. The 'Vette sounds delicious...the Camry doesn't have any sound. The 'Vette provides and experience while the Camry is washing your dishes.
