Default The C4 don't get any respect

I've noticed from watching corvette car shows in person and on YouTube....the C4 is barely represented, every other generation seems to be very well represented to the point of being boring,am I the only one who noticed this? I love the C4s especially the 84-90 models because that's the generation where I first fell in love with the corvette as a teenager. It's like their the ugly stepchild of the family or something...Total BS

Are there any ONLY C4 corvette clubs out there? If not there should definitely be

I love how nobody gives a crap about who likes their C4 and who doesnt.... I bet if you had to tool around everywhere in a rusted out Pacer you give a crap what people thought of you.... cause youd be embarrassed. I dont think anyone is embarrassed driving a C4 Corvette of any year....

Damn near every one of you takes the time to keep our cars looking in top condition.... youre all gonna tell me thats because you dont care who looks at it and what anyones opinion of your car is.... Riiiiight....

people like to rag on the C4 for some reason.

I love mine. its the Corvette I fell in love with as a kid in the 90's.
I remember saying WOW when I saw one drive by. I didnt care if it was an 84 or a 95 ZR-1

looked like a ferrari to me (I was 10 years old )

some C4's are fetching a LOT of cash these days. and I see the prices rising little by little.

Funny thing... I've been in Vermont this week on business. Bennington/Manchester/Rutland area and while driving around only saw 4 corvettes all week and they were all C4's... Vermont was showing the love I guess.

Yes, the C4's are not getting a lot of attention, or value, as well. I've had my '84 since new (May '83) and has only 26,000 miles. It was my 4th Vette and I've had six others since including my C7.
They were popular when new, as the '84's sold well, and the C4 did OK until later in the model cycle like other generations when buyers anticipated the next model and sales decreased. The performance improved through the years with the ZR1 and LT1 engines but it seems once the C5's hit the market everything changed for the C4 and it has gone downhill since. Not sure what the future holds; they will never be collectible like the C1-C2's, but I'd like to think they will rebound to some level of respectability. So many, especially the '84-'86's, have been trashed that finding a good one will be a challenge in a few more years. Not a lot of repro parts out there either, making a restoration difficult and with current prices not a good investment as well. It doesn't take much more than the cost of a repaint to get you upside down with no real guarantee of prices rebounding.

C4 Corvettes are cool again. And it's time to buy. After 20-plus years of getting very little respect, the Corvette's fourth generation is beginning to have resurgence in both popularity and value. The turnaround has begun, but it's still easy to miss if you're not looking for it.

When any car looks like this (below) you warrant no respect. Many C4s look like clunkers and like all, the whole generation is a victim of circumstance.

For every ugly and neglected C4, there are 1,000 that look great and properly maintained.

Below are just disgusting C4 Vettes and owners. Leave painting to professionals.

Default Love the C4 I own

The C4 generation of Corvettes launched the Corvette into a world class sports car. This is when the next evolution of Corvettes happened in its glorious production run. I never cared if others respect C4's. For some reason they appeal to me for their clean exterior design, strong performance, and their important history. Do these folks know that the C4's were so dominant in their racing days that a new C4 only class was made because the other manufacturers could not compete. Most folks who disrespect things display their ignorance. I just drive mine and create fond lifetime memories.

I wasn’t looking to buy my ‘86 until I saw what great condition it was in.

I bought a '89 about 1 1/2 years ago. Before it I had a pristine '04 convertible. Since the '04 was so nice and was a low mileage car, so I just hardly ever drove it just to not run up the odometer.

The '89 C4 is the opposite. I only gave $4K for the car. It shook, it rattled, several things didn't work or work correctly, it had a mediocre paint job.....overall it just needed some love. I've slowly been improving the car by taking care of some of it's "warts", and repairing things that have gone wrong since buying it. The best part is it's a "driver" and the odometer rolled up by almost 10,000 miles in the first year I owned it! I really don't care if the rest of the Corvette community looks down their noses at C4's. I like driving mine and feel 30 years younger when I do. That's important when you're 65 like I am!

From the value standpoint I have a feeling prices of the C4's will slowly appreciate with time. I have no intention of selling my '89, but I seriously can't imagine ever not being able to get $4500 for it, which is about what I have in it now with some improvements and repairs.

Now this might anger some, but you want fugly? Look at those rubber-baby-buggy-bumper C3's. I'd just drive my 300,000+ mile Tahoe.

So many C4s are being parted out that they'll dry up soon. People use the low hp of the regular C4s as a reason. My buddy just bought a 74 convertible in not good shape for 12k. That car has 190 hp. I say its just a few years away that you won't find cheap deals on beater C4s and the running ones will jump in value. It was the same story with the C3s.

I like many did not think so much of the C4, until I bought one! I have owned a C6 for a couple years and it is an awesome ride. A year ago I found a 96 vert CE with 42k miles that I fell in love with, the timing and deal was right. While the C4 does not quite equal a C6 in many respects, it is still a great car. I love the looks and find it to be tons of fun to drive. I love this car and have a new found respect for the C4!

Personally, I enjoy the C4 and don't care what others think. I bought an '86 vert new, dark red with a white top, raced, showed, and had a blast with that car. Bought a Ruby '93 a year and a half ago (it's the year of my youngest son, and will go to him some day). The car looks great, it just turned 100k and I love the looks when the kids just stop and stare as it goes by. I always try to wave to them, they get a kick out of it, and it helps to get the younger ones to like these cars too.

Where else can you get a great looking 300 HP Corvette for $9k?? That's what mine cost and I've just been fixing little things, but it puts me in a different mood just driving it. I can't wait for sunny days to be able to take that one to work. Just put 4 new Nitto tires on it, time to have some fun!!

What's wrong with that one??

I go to Park City Car Club events....no one even looks at my '92. No one. Among all the Beemer M's, Porsche 911 GT3's, Lambo's, Ferraris and McLarens...no one GAF about a '92 driver.

They're going to **** a brick when I show up with the Kart though.
