Default May God help my soul!!!!

So yea..

Got a chance to dig into the 96 I just bought.. So far I have cut the airlid, bypassed the TB, installed X pipe and trashed the mufflers. Ive also replaced the water pump, thermostat(160), radiator cap, BOTH coolant temp sensors, flushed the system added new dexcool, replaced cut/brittle vacuum lines.. etc etc all the stuff you do to a car thats been sitting a min.

Yesterday, feeling quite good about everything I washed it and took it out for a spin.. When I got back I noticed something NO c4 owner wants to see..... steam on the windshield!! FACK!!!

Now im mentally taking the dash apart in fleeting moments of the day.. sigh.. bypass maybe in order here.

Sorry to hear it. Bypass works great if you don't need the heater, depends on your temperament and the area you live in. Many threads on CF about C4 heater core replacement.

Its summer here in socal.. winter usually doesn't arrive until Jan, so i have some time to think about it.. in the meantime my other c4 has a bad blend door so there is always at least some hot air flowing into the cabin..... go figure right?

What does steam on the windshield indicate?

I know what it meant at the drive-in back in High School, but I'm pretty sure that's NOT what's being discussed.

This is how I feel about it.. but my female counterpart would be driving this one.. and theres something about girls and "cold" I just dont understand... But then again, this could be a hidden bonus in that she may not drive it often!

LMAO! If you can manage that in a c4 more power to ya!

In my case, it means the heater core is taking a $hit.. I may have to contort the same way as doing the deed in a c4 to get another one in there.

I did a heater core on an old 89 a while back. Doable, but a PITA. I drive my 91 in constant worry that it too will spring a leak. I had a shop quote me 13 hours on a "new style" C4 interior.

Worst job ever, sold cars over that haha

Look at it this way, one thing you wont have to worry about for a long time. Think DeWitts makes a nice upgraded one, not sure I trust the parts house stuff.

Sure it was steam and not just some condensation from the AC kicking on? I've had that happen on days when it's hot and humidity level is very high.

How many miles on your 96? What brand x pipe and tail pipes are you using?

153k miles..

for the tail pipes, long story I ordered some tips from amazon and got them they necked down to 2".. so that didnt work, but I was already there to get the x pipe and deletes done so they went ahead and did the work and just left exhaust pipe sticking out so I can order new tips and put them on later..

They cut the exhaust kinda far back where the pipes are actually 2.75 inch.. so they put 3" from that spot back. does not sound too bad.

I got new tips put on the black car, x pipe installed and muffler delete on the white one for $250 all together. Ill go take some pics and an exhaust video right now since im "working from home".

Jones x pipe, summit got it to me in 1 day:
