After putting and new cap, rotor, ignition module, spark plugs and spark plug wires on my 84, I learned 1 thing. I WILL NEVER do plugs and wires again until that air pump and all it's tubing are GONE. That stuff just makes it a huge pain to get to at least 1/2 of them. I took it all off my '92 Firebird and everything was so much easier. If anyone has taken that crap off I'd be glad to know what problems, if any, you ran into.

If you think replacing the spark plug wiring in your '84 is difficult, don't even think about removing the AIR system! And stay away from later 'vette's. They get progressively more challenging. The '84 is the easiest of the bunch.

the a i r stuff is just in the way of doing what is a pretty easy job. when I took the stuff off my 92 Firebird it took changing plugs for a 3 1/2 hr job to a 35 minute job.

In Colorado, if you take that stuff off you will not get an emissions cert needed for license plate tags. Maybe it is different in MI.
When I added the AIR stuff back on my 81 truck the performance dropped noticeably.
