C5 vs c4, the c5 will obviously cost more. It will cost more to maintain and repair, and it will lose more value over time. It doesn't drive as good, but has a smoother ride and more space (but not by a lot).

The C5 is no spring chicken either and many parts for it are impossible to find already. It has a lot more electrical gremlins, like a stability system that fails and swerves you into other cars, walls, etc. It has more parts that are electronics you can't fix and just have to replace and hope it fixes it.

A clean c4 is a more reliable car than an equally priced c5. Maybe even more reliable than an equal condition c4. The worst thing that can fail in a c5 is the opti, which usually gives you warning and really should be done with the water pump (people failing to replace the wp causes most opti failures anyways). The c5 isn't a bad car, but the c4 isnt either. The c5 is that lost middle child, not a driver car like the c4, and not nice like the c6.

there is a gentleman on eBay that sells reconditioned and tested oem opti's. he has new sensors for 1st gen optisparks. many of the members have already dealt with him, including me. look up optidoctor on ebay

just put one of his $390.00 units in my LT4 two weeks ago. the MSD opti that failed had no core value to him, so had to eat that hoped for $ 70.00 core refund.

I agree. I had a C5 Z06 Z16, it was a great Vette. I just didn't feel part of the car like the C4 and C7 and sold it.

Now if you are into that 95, get somebody who is mechanically inclined to assist you. Many things can be wrong or it can be a great car.

Betty Boop was a 95 and I sold it with 155,000 miles, but it was in outstanding condition. The buyer flew from Nebraska to California, he asked: "Can I drive to Nebraska with no problems?" I responded; "You can drive to Maine, back here, say hello, and go home to Nebraska"

I miss Betty Boop, she was a warrior with 4 cross-country trips.
