1) It's the most frequently used control and as a physical **** it can be operated without taking your eyes off the road.
2) I wanted to retain a some essence of the BOSE head unit layout.
3) Space would have to be allocated on the already small screen for a slider control which would leave less room for the other controls.
I never really liked the style of the **** shown in the photos I've posted. But last week I found a supplier who has a **** that is very similar to the ***** used on the BOSE system. I'll be updating the photos soon to show the new ****.

OP, I read both this thread and the previous thread and I wanted to thank you for the hard work you did!
I started gathering most parts (including using the laser cutter at work to get the two acrylic plates done) and I will get this project a try soon.
This is the perfect project for the winter month since a big chunk of the work can be done directly from a heated living room
I might give a try to crankshaft.
