Good morning, a few days ago somebody decided to attack my 85 vette. They kicked the battery panel in (pictures down below) and they attempted to rip off the glass top. I now have the glass top held on by tape as the glass and the weather striping are not connected anymore. I don't know what to do about it. There are no cameras around where the vette was parked so I have no idea who it was. I already put a lot of money into the vehicle and it is the love of my life. Should I fix it up? Should I sell it? What do you guys think I should do?

I do have insurance on the vette and my deductible is $500. Just trying to figure out the best thing to do.

Once fixed ask your agent about a 0 deductible its not much more than youre paying. Make sure and get a police report in case the ins asks for it.

That sucks! Definitely file a claim with your insurance company for vandalism.

A new or used fender panel isn't that expensive and just bolts in. Being that the color is white, you can get away with rattle canning it. Find a used top and you're good to go. Might not even hit the deductible.

If the weatherstrip isn't ripped up get a tube of 3M adhesive and reglue or just replace the gasket. There are lots of body panel pieces in wrecking yards on ebay and CL or place an ad asking for your color on the forum etc.

Not expensive or hard.

Similar **** has happened to me from jealous ********. Fix it. Put a camera on it.

Then shoot them when they try it again.

That really sucks! I assume you've been parking outside (in same spot) for a while? Many people knew this was your car and spot? This has a feeling of some kind of payback or jealousy attached to it. Most burglars wouldn't do any of that damage to get inside, when they could easily get in through a window. Anyone you know with a grudge against you? Got any pissed off ex-girlfriends, or ex-girlfriend who has a new crazy boyfriend? If the idiots didn't get all the way into your car, it probably was just senseless vandalism. Definitely go through your insurance and fix it up, also add an alarm with a "shaker/motion sensor" then make up your mind if you want to sell.
