Default Seatbelt queation

This may sound silly but the only other 90 car I owned was a Honda with the stupid automated strap. So on a 1990 coupe should the shoulder or lap bet lock automatically at any point? I know on new cars if you pull to fast or all the way out they lock to keep you out of the dash.

Yes they should. You should be able to give them a solid yank. Do you have a cinch button on them? I know on my 87 it has that button.

There is a button, think it says lock. Thanks, when we get back from our trip this weekend I'll have to pull the retractors apart and see if I can free up the latch.

You can try stopping fast too, should lock the belt up as well.

The 'cinching' on my 93 happens when I don't want it to. Maybe it's because I hit a bump and the cinch engages, the belt keeps tightening on my lap as I move around, really hate that.

Anyone know how to stop the cinching?
