Pretty cool 1990
Yesterday we were at a Corvette show at Bair's Corvettes in Linesville Pa
http://www.bairscorvette.com or http://www.bairscorvette.com
There was a 1990 there that had a 396 SBC in it. The owner (he was the 2nd owner) told us TPIS had built it. 500+ HP. Had their miniram on it, headers, A/C deleted. He had converted it to a 6 speed, 4.11 Dana 44. What was interesting is that he had put in an E/M harness bar to strengthen the hoop as a couple of us here on the forum did. The car had coil overs also. The car has also been plumbed for nitrous, but currently it is not hooked up.
The engine is one of the ones pictured in their "we built this" pictures.
He got distracted and I wasn't able to get his number, but over in the Pa area, close to Linesville, there is going to be an M6 1990 for sale that will pull a Z06 for sale for less than what it will cost to build. A lot less. Less than $20,000. That is a lot less. Both owners of course did not/are not going to recoup their investment, but he said he didn't want to part it out (nothing wrong with it, that would be the only way to recover his money).
That car is what most of our cars aspire to be. I think it was probably a monster to drive.
FYI, the car has been built to handle 700HP. Originally it had a built 700R4 in it.

Sounds like recently deceased mseven (mick) old 1990. Was it white with a black interior? Cant find it on the site.
His was featured on TPIS site
If so it makes more than 500hp and is one hell of a well put together car. He sold it to another member here who put a 6 spd in it ( posted a link to the build). every nut bolt and wire on that car was done up right. He was asking a lot for it but was worth every dime, not a bit of hackwork anywhere . No way could someone spend 20k and duplicate it
Im pretty lame with the search function, cant find it.
If someone wants to save on a modded car and not worry about something going bad that would be on the top of the list.
Last car he built was a 1969 Camaro that was insane, placed at the last Motorama.

Melting Slicks
I bought the car from Mick and stayed in touch with him in years since. He left us in January and will be missed.
I don't get time to enjoy the car much these days, but sure had a good time at Bairs' and an even better time getting there and getting home!
Was nice meeting some new friends and hope we meet again.
Send me info on your club.

If I had the cash, that car would be sitting at my house. There are a couple things I would do to it.
1. restore the hvac system, sometimes A/C is just nice to have.
2. quiet it down just a bit with good mufflers, I have heard that C6 mufflers quiet them down quite well
3. maybe look into a Gear Vendors overdrive. with the 4.10 ? (4.11?), the 6 speed and the GV od, it would in essence become a 12 speed. hearing it shift through the gears would make some 6 and 7 owners envious, especially when all they saw is the tail lights saying good bye :-)
now I know it can't compete with the real high hp vettes, unless the nitrous was hooked up, it sure would surprise quite a few cars, especially with a double overdrive to let it really get up into the top end. :-)
I would also save my pennies and do a higher end brake system as that car just begs to be driven.
I am going to do a 377 (car is low mileage, so all I should have to do is hone the cylinders a little) but a 396 IS a Corvette motor.
