Default How many here drive C4 in the rain?

I know its an old car, weather stripping is not great, etc. But what issues have you had when driving in rain as far as water entering cabin.. Solutions?
My Vette is not a show or garage queen, I just dont drive it much at all. Lately , after fixing leak in windshield due to poor window install, I have decided to say, F it, and just drive it..rain or shine. Shine preferred.

Never liked driving it in the rain even stock, and now I hate it. I lose traction real easy. No nannies, Mine meant to be driven on sunny warm days....

Light weight car, big wide tires, seems to hydroplane easily. I don't drive in the rain on purpose :-)

I only drive it in the rain, when I am caught on a trip and I have to keep moving to stay on schedule. Otherwise it is typically a fair weather car these days. All weather stripping was replaced last year.

If I feel like driving the vette I do, rain or shine.

I drive in the rain now no issues but when I first bought the vette 14 months are I got caught in in a Florida downpour 2 things 1. windshield fogs up like crazy 2 . I drove threw a deep puddle and engine shot off immediately sucked water threw the air intake
I'll never do that again

I learned years ago to not drive through puddles, or wash this damn LT1/4 engine.
Sux you had that happen Bill.
All my weatherstripping is new. I need tires first..

I won't drive in the rain if I know it's going to rain, but I don't freak out if I unexpectedly get caught in the rain...I've yet to see anyone post in any of the vette forums here (including C7 guys) that their car melted when it got rained on.

Leaky C4s are more of a concern.
For example, my windshield wipers work, but wont shut off, until I shut car off. All parts in wiper motor were replaced, os problem is in steering column.
Leaks going on to speakers and dash are a concern.
Other than that, Other driverz are biggest concern.

I drive mine in the rain all the time. 64000 miles and no leaks and runs great. handles well but my tires only have 5000 miles since new. I live in Florida if I didn't drive in the rain I couldn't drive much

I used to drive it daily when it was stock and near-stock. It would hydroplane too easy for my liking but I had no choice, just be light on the gas, and always let off it when I hit a puddle. Always dripped water on my leg in a good storm.

Now, much more power, no way do I drive in anything but the lightest rain.

The "rule" for both my lady friend and I that both drove it was if you got back in the rain, it got chamois'd off then the cover put on it. Which we both did. Nowadays I won't take it out if rain is likely. Mostly because I don't want to run the risk of some bone-head, or even myself making a mistake and damaging it. But they don't melt in the rain, and they can be cleaned back up. So I don't sweat it if I happen to get in rain during a trip.

My biggest ongoing problem with my C4s in the rain are the wipers. They chatter, get crossed-up, flip over and damage the hood, etc. Another reason I'll take something else if rain is likely. The wipers are too fussy.
C4 wipers do have a mind of their own. I changed the wipers and arms to european one as they have stiffer springs supposedly. And I was told stick with OEM thin blades.
Or use copious amounts of RainX

Rain X is your friend in the rainstorms, works better than the wipers ever do. The windshield has so much rake that the drops fly off pretty quick.

I have no problem driving it in the rain, not a bother at all. It is Florida after all we get it every day just about. However, if I can avoid it I will. I like to put my toys away clean, and its just one more vehicle to deep clean after a big storm.

I drive it in rain. My biggest issue with it is that when I open the door it always drips on me. Not a huge deal, just annoying.

It leaks and is annoying but if I can't drive it in the rain and have to be that careful, I might as well dump it for a museum piece. Sure, I have to be more careful because of the torque but such is life. I wanted a modified engine so I can't drive it like a sedan with snow tires. Only concession I make is if there is snow, I don't drive it.

First time in the rain I found out you sure can't keep the window down an inch when raining. Dan

last time in the rain was about 5 years ago. Still has original wipers and arms which lock together...not good if you're on the interstate. New garage rule: top down in April, up in November, then store; no exceptions.
