Default Headlight question

My right headlight has recently begun to "hunt" when I turn the lights off. It happens not only when I have the headlights on but it also happens when using only the parking lights or the fog lamps. When I turn the light switch off, the RH light motor cranks for a few seconds before stopping. I know the bushings can go bad and if necessary I'll rebuild but I wondered if the is a "home switch" that might be out of adjustment on the right motor.

Motor doesn't have such a switch. The load on armature when headlight hits stops, turns off motor. Similar to power antenna motor.

Ok, it was worth a shot. Guess I'll have to work some time into my schedule. Thanks.

Do both. I'd get the brass gear so I don't have to worry if the plastic cracks. It isn't visible always. Mine looked good from afar till I used a light on it and saw a hairline crack. Do both if it were me. One at a time so you have something to look at if you get turned around doing the job.

I'm still wondering why that headlight tries to close when it was never open. I may have turned only the parking lights on but upon turning them off, the right headlight clatters light it is trying to close when it wasn't open.

Sorry, Kevova. The power antenna motor does have limit switches. You're right about the headlight motor controllers in the late model 'vette's, though.

Not all antennas use limit switches. Older A,B,C, D, E, F, Y bodies. don't that why when the cord breaks motor runs until battery dies. N, W, and later Y do use limit switches. The new non original GM replacements use limit switches.
