I'd still find a kit or someone's project if this is what you wanted.
A Caterham using a C4? That would be interesting to see. The Caterham is so much smaller. Was it s custom or somebody fit a Caterham kit to a C4 frame somehow? Would you have pictures or is there a thread somewhere? Would be really interesting to see.

It was pretty chopped up, I think it was an autobody place car. This was like 6-8 years ago. It was listed forever on cl.

No pics. He had like 5 pics up back then, maybe a google deep dive could find them.

I have now tried several google word combinations. Can't find anything about a Caterham on a C4 frame. Pity. Would really liked to take a look at it and read about it.

Looking at the C4 frame, my idea was to stretch it like this:

The green part is the added part. Any chances of that working?

Although it seems if I did it that way the engine would also be moved forward, which I don't want. So new engine mounts would have to be made. Where are the engine mounts by the way? Are they all before the front suspension? Because if so, maybe I could stretch the frame just before the front suspension? Where the red dot is in the bottom frame picture.

The motor mounts are attached to the K member. So they'd move forward like you're thinking. Of course, it wouldn't be hard to fab new mounts, rear of the K member.

why do you want to lengthen a C4 ?
what benefits are there vs the amount of work involved ?

The purpose was two fold. Push the wheels more outwards for stability reasons and to reach the correct proportions of the design I have in mind. But as I said in the main post, it's not an absolute must. I'm just researching the possibilities.

Maybe moving the cabin a little back is another option and easier? Would at least achieve the goal of making the front longer for the proportions.

if you are set on a longer wheelbase just get a c5, they have an 8" longer wheelbase.

if you tried to cut and shut a c4 you will be in the garage forever, it would be a nightmare !

But the front of the C5 is even shorter, which defeats the purpose a bit.

Ah OK. Thanks. It is not in the frame drawings above.

Are you basically describing something like an old sprint car design?

Maybe start with one of those and modify it?

Make it fatter..
