Default First time C4 ow er

Just drove this home. Pretty much a basket case. Rattle can paint, interior trashed. Suspension issues. Looking forward to fixing it up. 1985 Auto....

If I were you, I'd spend most $$$ on the engine and trans if needed, and the rest on making it a "Post Apocalyptic Road Warrior Racer", or a very unique"Rat Rod."

I keep my C4 vette collecting scars. It's not a show car, it is not a respected corvette, but it is cheap and fun to drive. Looks like a nice project. Get sorted and drive it, you can always do a wrap or the plasti dip stuff. If it was cheaper my car would be plastidipped.

Yes, also wear a Mel Gibson mask when driving it. How about a matte finish camo paint job...make it apocalyptic military.

It runs real strong .trans shifts nice and firm. Tires are shot from sitting. Both fronts are separating. Just picked up a set of 4 used ones for 150$

Congrats. I'm with some of the others, the matte paint doesn't look too bad. Enjoy the project.

Welcome to the forum. I too bought a "rolling project", an 86 auto. First thing to fix was a badly leaking tranny, front seal was shot. I been trying to do systems at a time. Brakes is next I guess. Just got it back from the paint shop, now all I need is wheels and the outside will be finished. I had to buy a used top as thr one it came with was a clear one but had a double hand sized piece broken off, To bad I hD TO REPLACE IT WITH A SOLID PEACE INSTEAD OF A SEE THRU ONE. Thats still on my list to get a plexieglass one, but far down the list. Found a set of 84 seats that were in great shape and same color as my 86 ones. I have in the garage a full set of poly bushing, a d44 rear end with axels and beam. Have had the insterement panel rebuilt. new fuel pump (but the damn fuel lever thingy just went out) new tires, new seat belts. ect. I need to replace bushing which I have and I want to replace brake hoses and rebuild calipers , and perhaps the master cyl. Will wait to do the emergence brake for a later time but its not to far down the list, I recomnd you attach emergency loops on your hood latches, plenty of podt on that in here. I hve new cables for hood AND the latches loops. Again, welcome to the forum and like me, have a driving project,

Fuel Pressure Gauge
volt meter
Metric wrenches/sockets,/bits.....lots of 10mm
Lots of enthusiasm and a check book
always state your year and be specific...post pics is helpful

[QUOTE=ghoastrider1;1598294001]Welcome to the forum. I too bought a "rolling project", an 86 auto.
hi there! Mine was advertised as needing a battery and a starter. No other known issues.....when I got there I quickly realized both mufflers were hanging, the top was not attached. When I looked at it, I found the frame broken and the fiberglass broke and was separating from the frame. Put the battery in it and it started right up, and overheated in short order, found it full of stop leak. So needed a radiator too. Seats are trashed, carpet is trashed. Radio is missing, but has the Bose speakers still in place, the digital dash seems to work fine.
Tires are shot from sitting, the left rear tire sticks out further than the right, and the rear shifts under power. Needs a new front bumper as well. Went yesryesteamd picked up 4 used tires with 11/32 still on them.
Putting them on this weekend, and will look at the suspension and brakes at that time. I'm sure there's more, but that's all I can remember at the moment

specific reason for fuel pressure gauge? Volt?
