Double din in an 85

Melting Slicks
I did an LS swap too and it doesn't have any. Every time I am going to put AC in it I spend the money on some thing else for another car. Bad discipline but I've planned for it to go below the radio in that open space when/if I ever get around to it.

Burning Brakes
Who was this question directed to?
If it was me, I built my own head unit. You can see more here: The Comvette Project

Advanced
You will have to trim the plastic bracket behind the dash so that the double din headunit fits inside. It is a tight space with all of the wiring harnesses that run behind it. As I recall I also made up metal brackets for each side to secure it in place.
As for the bezel, You have two options. You can buy a double din bezel or trim and fill yours. You trim a little from the top and bottom and then you have to fill in the sides.

I need help with bypassing the Bose system
How to bypass do I have to re wire the whole car or I can use the same wires to by pass
Hi
I have a pioneer double din with gps in my 85,note the fascia needs to be modified.
That is the hardest part, need to cut sections and fit the double din surround and use filler to make it fit and look good.
Of course going from bose to aftermarket, needs the bose amps in doors and rear to be bypassed.
I had a kenwood stereo in there before so that was done already.
It looks great well worth the effort, cant supply pictures due to photo bucket issues.

I did that for a few reasons...
1. 4.5" Bose speakers are kinda tiny. I wanted 6". Good quality speakers are dirt cheap.
2. Why have the weight of the amps if you aren't going to use them?
3. There are blank off plates made to fill in the holes. Work great.
4. It's dead simple to run the wires. You can fish right thru the door grommets for the fronts and the rears just run under the carpet.
5. It was a fun project.
