Default Dust Boot Delema

Hello,

I am replacing the stock shifter in my 1991 6 speed to a HURST short throw shifter. In this process I found out my car is missing the very bottom "Dust Boot" the covers the shift box from below, the linkage to the tyranny goes through this boot.

So, I cant find one anywhere. I called Chevrolet and they told me it is not sold or made by them anymore, and when they did sell it it came as part of the whole shift assembly.
He gave me a GM part number of 12355192.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as to where I can get one of these

What is the original boot made out of and what does it look like? If it is some kind of rubber or vinyl, can you just buy a small sheet of rubber/vinyl somewhere and cut it to shape to fabricate your own?

Its made of rubber, it is squarish with two wholes facing forward. It is attached from the bottom of the car...yes I can fabricate something, and I will if I cannot find one, just would be easier and more efficient if its the real thing....

You got the bottom (underneath the car) rubber dust boot. There are two rubber boots, one that is removed from inside the car and the second one the one I am looking for is attached from the bottom of the car.

they are both called bottom dust boots, so If you got the bottom one can you send me a part number please...

Thanks PyePye

How difficult was ity to remove the old shifter?

And does the new short throw shifter elliminate the need to pull up for reverse?

Thats awsome, but I have that rubber boot, there is another boot on the bottom of the assembly, the one where your shift rod goes through and connects to the transmission.

Thats the one I am missing

OOOoooo..... I know that piece. THAT will be trick to find. My guess is that is a straight ZF piece and nothign that the parts houses will carry. You may be able to find one from a trans that someone is parting out?
