Default Which heater core for 1992 Coupe?

Hi
I am looking at replacing the heater core in my 1992 coupe. Looking at different web sites there seems to be big differences in cost. Does anyone have any suggestions or thoughts on which one to go with? I see brass and aluminum

Car Quest - $41.49
https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/...021%7CL3*15934

Ecklers - $99.99
https://www.ecklerscorvette.com/corv...1984-1996.html

Corvette Central - $79.95

the corvette parts house will sell the same one that your local auto parts store sells only at a jacked up price. what ever one you buy pressure test it first

Is there a difference in quality between the aluminum one and brass one?

~11 years ago when I replaced mine, some of the aftermarket ones did not fit.

So I'd either be careful to buy a specific brand & part number that people on here can vouch for, or I'd pay the corvette tax to get something that I know will fit.

Got mine from RockAuto but as stated, be very sure to air test for leaks before you install. You only want to do the install once.

Looks like Rockauto has five different ones listed ranging from $20-$34 any difference between these?? As has been said I will only want to do this once.

These look to be aluminum and corvette central ($79) is copper/brass. Any difference? I am now running the green antifreeze

Not sure it matters? Radiators have been aluminum/plastic, composite construction, for years.

I put a rock auto core in mine and it seems fine? Should work with either antifreeze..

I didn't pressure test, but if you do, be careful.. Cooling system pressure is about 14/16 PSI.. If you plug shop air into that heater core it is very likely to go boom..

I sm thinking I read somewhere that dexcool does not do well with cooper/brass as it will ruin the solder joints. But with vacumn brazed aluminum it’s good. But green will corrode aluminum

But the heads and water pump were aluminum on the early C4?

If you flush and change coolant in the intervals called out by GM you won’t have problem. But most do not. With that said if the original one lasted 25 odd years who really cares

If that were true yuiur radiator would have to be copper too. I think the copper is used because it transfers heat better.

You could use simple solder construction with copper and brass also. Probably a big deal back in the day.
