Dana44=9" irs upgrade

Which IRS set-up you thinking about using? I was thinking about using the Dutchman 9inch rear end. The 9inch housing is physically quite bit bigger than and may hit the truck floor board/panel. I was going to weld-up a bracket to get the housing as close to the floor without the housing/brace contacting the floor.

Nice car, hah love LS7 decal. Post more pics of your car.
Curious if You guys think that the 9inch irs pumpkin would fit into our C4 without cut up the floor/truck? I was thinking about reusing most of the other bits of the dana 36/44 for now. I just have a tiny LQ9 ls 6L engine under my hood.

Good question. My dana44 is still in the car running fine. I had a LS7 454ci in it before with the 4+3. This engine was in my brothers 68 ss camaro best time 9f 10.51 @ 130mph. This is 15years ago in a 3700lb car. But now with the Dart 632ci. You feel the difference.. anyway the dana44 held up fine with thr LS7 even though i never dropped the cluch.
i just dont want this insecurity of bending breaking twisting things. The dana44 is quite a good setup but no match for big cubes. Remember rambo😊
dont push it.

By the way. You are right. Very tight cars. But only 2 pedals. Powerglide😚

Looks really nice. If it has a powerglide, it's probably safe to assume it's a quarter miler and not a road racer. Why not just put a straight axle in it and now worry about all the extra moving parts?

No. I use mine as a streeter 90% its more fun and u get to use it and enjoy it rather then pushing them to there limits. I didnt go the solid axle bcos. One its more weight. Not too mention reciprocating weight meaning less stress on everythng. I like to keep more aluminum bits as possible. Also alot easier for me to do the centre and fabrication c beam. Without disturbing rear alignments. And the ability to say its IRS just incase one day i do decide to track it😊

100% correct. But u gotta have a happy medium. Car weighs in at 3100lbs. Dont really needs gears with 900ft lbs. Bare in mind our speed limits 80kph generally. Im sitting on around 3000rpm cruising. Luvs it. I get your point though.

Here's a 9" IRS by Kugel Komponents: I put this in a '32 Ford.
