Default Acrylic top ‘93

All;

Found someone with an acrylic top, and it appears to be in nice shape, and will fit my car.

Only question...he claims it came new with his old Corvette, but I’m not sure that’s entirely true.

The top appears to be in very nice shape, and it’s the third revision, which fits my car, but noted that on the front of the frame, next to the mounting bolt, one side says “Corvette”, and the opposite side says “Made In The USA”.

That might not be important, but I was under the impression that the OEM tops had the GM part # stamped in the right corner, and nothing stamped on the left—so I’m thinking this might actually be an aftermarket replacement.

Does that even matter? I just want to make sure I’m not buying something of inferior quality.

Thanks!

As long as the lexan and weatherstrip are fine wouldnt worry about it. The frame and mounts are really basic stuff.

I wouldnt pay a premium for it, but if its priced fairly I wouldnt worry about it.

He’s asking $400, and including the storage bag...sounded like a great deal. He said it’s from a ‘92 he owned, so fit should be fine on my ‘93. The mounts look identical in shape to the ones on my solid top.

I'd say it's a great deal. A replacement lexan piece alone is $330+

I finally met up with him today, and was surprised that the top was in nearly new condition. It’s a factory top, the weatherstripping is perfect, and cosmetically, it’s nearly perfect.

The only thing i could find wrong was about a half dozen “pinholes” about the size of the tip of a ball point pen in the tint above the passenger seat that only were noticeable if I was inside the car looking up at the roof trying to find flaws.

I’ll check that out...seller said that they owned a ‘92 until recently, and forgot the top until some weeks later. The man’s wife didn’t like the clear top, because she felt it made the car way too warm in summer.

Dumb question...if I’m stowing the acrylic top in the cargo area, am I supposed to put the top in the storage bag first?

GM did not issue the storage bag. That is aftermarket. So to correctly store the top in the back of the car don’t use the bag
