Default Need help identifying a relay and sensor

I bought a new (to me) 1989 Corvette last week. It is the first Vette I have owned and I am loving it. I have a couple questions though. The car came with a bunch of spare parts and a service manual. There are a couple things I can't identify.

First there are two relays near the driver's wheel well. I know the forward one is a fan control relay. What is the rearward one (circled below)? At first I thought it was a fuel pump relay, but the service manual says that is on the firewall inboard of the brake booster, and in fact I do have a relay in that location as well.

Second I got this sensor in a box of parts. It was in a bag and looks new. No part number on it or the bag. It appears to be a temperature sensor of some sort:

Well my 85 has only one relay in the area but the second part is the egr temp sensor, it screws into egr valve under plenum.

Congrats on your '89 Vette and welcome to the Forum.

That "part" looks like the sensor in the EGR tube that runs between the RH exhaust manifold and the intake base. That EGR tube has an aluminized insulator covering.

If you received 'complete' FSM there's a section 8A-201 that you want to familiarize yourself with. It will ID component locations for you of 'most' related electrical components for your car. For an '89 there's an oddity though (not unusual for FSM). See 8A-201-2 for relay location BUT 8A-201-3 for transmission solenoid is in error. '89 1st year M6 and the displayed is actually of earlier C4 with 4+3. Your solenoid is 'mid-case' of the M6 and the BU switch is very high left side front. See 8A-20-4 to confirm wire colors.

Yes that's '89 location.according to FSM
